Mods

None. It's a completely stock Firebolt, Arctic White with Orange lettering. http://www.buell.com

Carberation

Excellent low end torque. Down-draft fuel injected. Sometimes misses/backfires in stop and go situations after hard riding.

Brakes

Front Brake is smooth, responsive and unbelievably powerful. No fade. Rarely use Rear brake.

Handling

Smooth and super-quick cornering. Responds precisely to slightest rider input. Great in the twisties. Extremely flickable. Light weight and low center of gravity help the handling.

Comments

Needs more horsepower for the straight sections of road between twisties if you want to keep up with other sportbikes. If you get one, switch to synthetic oil and don't use cheap, low-quality Harley oils. Cool and unique V-Twin sound. Sexy looks set it apart from the fully-faired foreign bikes.

modifications on this bike : NONE, COMPLETELY STOCK

Carberation

Great off the line, but redlines and tops out quick. 2nd gear can catch you off guard and pull more than you would expect. Same goes for 5th gear... it has more pull that you would expect for 5th. At idle, the exhaust putting on your left ankle can be annoying, so learing to use the right foot as a post is a must. The rough idle at stops smooths out once you start rolling, but the vibes still affect the mirrors visiblity. This makes this very distorted and blurry.

Brakes

This bike has excellent stopping power with the front brake. The rear seems to be the same as any other.

Handling

Some say that the bike is light, but flickability compared to the jap bikes is far from the same. The can feel heavy at slower speeds in the turns. It does have great reaction with the riders body when leaning on the twisties.

Comments

This bike will get the most attention no matter if you ride with the cruisers or the crotch-rockets. Its styling just stands out in the crowd. Most 600's will beat it in the top-end, but off the line it is a formitable foe.

Mods

modifications on this bike : Hal's performance full body street kit

Carberation

This bike runs like a scolded ape! Power? Yeah, power from a Harley Davidson V-Twin. If you're looking for a sport bike that has mean style and can give a Japanese bike a run for it's money on the quarter mile than look no further than the firebolt!

Brakes

Feel, Strength : Stops on a dime

Handling

Smooth hanling, great in the turns due to it's short whellbase and low center of gravity (fuel in the frame design).

Comments

I used to ride CBRs and GSXRs...but I've got to say that I will never ride any of those bikes again. Buell is the way to go -- buy American.

Mods

modifications on this bike : Stock (2006 bike, forum would not let me post 2006 as test year)

Carberation

Fuel injected, plenty of low end torque, upgraded transmission, great for the street and in the corners(nothing else can lean like this bike can). Low end torque generated by the V-twin translates to minimal gear shifting (3rd gear will take you a long way) Very responsive to power demand, V-twim translates immediately through transmission to belt drive with an idler wheel assist. Not built for the top end, very smooth and progressive in its power which will not suprise the rider, but if you want to do 180mph this is not your powertrain, if you want a great streetrider and cornering bike, this is your powertrain.

Brakes

Feel, Strength : Ample braking power. ZTL front brake system more then adequete and does not go soft.

Handling

Superb. Cannot be overstated. Everything on the bike from the power traing to the oil in the swingarm is designed to facilitate handling. Low CG, tight wheel base, excellent lean angle. Complimented by the power train, nothing leans more then this machine. Very fun to ride and forgiving.

Comments

XB9R available in Sunfire Yellow, minimal faring style, looks great, clean angles. Great bike, fun to ride, innovative, excellent handling characteristics. Know what you are getting. This is not a 0-100 in first gear bike, it is a throaty, low end torque, cornering monster that deserves to be taken out to the switchbacks, not dragged down the interstate. Lot of transmission and engine improvements over pervious years models.
