Full termignoni exhaust, a few carbon body parts, chip, ohlins rear shock and steering damper
Lots of torque and a decent top end...chip smooths things out a little but doesn't deliver much more high-rpm power...termignonis go BOOM BOOM BOOM and wake up the neighbors
Strong brakes with much better response at high speeds...sort of "wooden" feel though
Heavier steering than any japaneeze bike but it's planted and precise...ohlins shock is amazing
The bike is much more reliable than I thought it was going to be...yeah, it's uncomfortable and expensive but worth the tradeoff...nothing feels and rides like a ducati
full Termignoni exhaust, chip, carbon fiber open clutch cover, carbon fiber chain guard, carbon fiber rear hugger, carbon fiber vented front fender, carbon fiber heal guards, adjustable mirrors with matching brake and clutch levers,Zero Gravity double bubble color matching windscreen,Italian flag passanger seat, tail elliminator kit, etc.
Amazing amount of torque, neck snapping acceleration gives the bike a feeling of RAW power, second gear starts humming at about 65 mph, third at about 80 mph
very powerful with out feeling jerky, compliments handling very well. negative= can feel sticky when hot
World class suspention, excellent weight distribution and great aero dynamics allows you to become one with the bike
Highly recomended to experienced riders only. This bike was made for one reason "speed" so if your into the 40 or 50 mph ride through the neighborhood this bike is not for you. Riding posture is very steep and can be taxing on the body after a few hours. Takes a long time to get used to even for experienced riders because nothing out there comes close to a 996 so everything feels alien to you.

Very good useable power right from very low down the range. The throttle acts more like an on/off switch and takes some getting used to.
Solid, strong and very dependable.
Found it very flickable and stable. Does not feel as heavy as it is.
I'm 183cm (6 foot) and actually found the bike very comfortable. Don't pass judgement on comfort factors based on other peoples opinions, go and try one out. (Beware - you will want one and your bank balance may start looking quite sorry).
STOCK
Incredible power from very low down to about 8700rpm. Geared very high in 1st so a little jumpy, and the throttle control needs to be very precise. Fuel injection is flawless with no flat spots.
These brakes are incredible, trail braking is almost effortless, and at higher speeds the brakes are almost silky, however at lower speeds the brakes feel very touchy and heavy.
This bike was made for handling. The weight distribution is almost perfect and with a little suspension tuning you will feel like part of the road. Road feel is incredible, but bike remains planted even through mid corner rough sections. Stock steering damper makes the handling feel heavy at first but once you get used to it there is no turning back. The entire bike can be manipulated by flicking your hips and turning your head with no forward control input.
This is the perfect sportbike. As long as you are riding on roads that are fun (read curvy / hilly) you can ride all day with little discomfort. If you get on the highway on this bike and expect to ride all day like you are on a harley, you bought the wrong bike. I can ride twelve hours at a time, and be fine as long as I ride on back roads with plenty of turns. Enjoy this motorcycle, but only if you are an experienced rider.
List any modifications on this bike. Cored exhaust, and removed intake noise restrictors. Sounds tons better and does't backfire as much.
Injection response is a bit touchy. But easy to get used to. No flat spots or roughness. Pulls real hard from 3K up. Ability to hold one gear through multiple twisties and let the engine do the braking into and then roll out is great. Can't do that with the in line fours.
Brakes, front are strong easy to modulate one or two fingers is all that is necessary. Rear works well and compliment the front perfectly. Side note my bike fell over and the lever cost me 80 bucks. A bit pricy and you have to buy the complete assembly not just the lever. You gotta pay to play.
Feels as good as it looks. Suspension once stiffened up for my taste is spot on. Goes where you want it to. Very forgiving. I have yet to have it do something unexpected. This bike does whatever you ask and begs to do it faster the next time.
It took me ten years to get and was well worth the wait. I ride it every chance I get and love every minute. Plus love the looks and attention this bike attracts. Even people who don't normally care about motorcycles will take a long look. My other ride is a 1975 Norton 850 Commando. So I like to ride something different. It's like having a dog or cute baby in a park. Everyone wants to get a closer look. I have been street riding for 17 years and have ejoyed this bike more than I could imagine. I know all the pundits and people say that the Honda,Suzuki,Yamaha,Kawasaki all go stop and turn as well or better but if you gave those who say that the their choice of them all with a flat rate price. What would they take? For me this bike is worth every cent.

Great out of the box.
Brakes are excellent. No problems
Best bike on the market.
The only problem is my bike is always in the shop. The throttle cable in the fuel-injector stayed open. Full throttle! This could be dangerous? Once this was fixed. The clutch wore out. In normal riding conditions and hard to get your coupons for free maintenance. The bike is excellent but the service and reliability is to be Questioned.

Ohlins Front Forks, Ohlins Shock, Ohlins steering dampener
The power on the motorcycle in excellent. Nothing compares to the power of the twin engine. Havent caught any flat spots. Seems to stay right where I want it.
The front brake is amazing. Real smooth. Great response. The rear break doesnt seem to catch very well almost like I have to really step on it which seems to me like there is something wrong. Just something I will have to check out on future rides.
From my previous exsperiences on R1s Suzukis and hondas The ducati seems to have the best handling out of any bike I have ever ridden. Its really smooth coming around the corners. You really dont have to work it around the corner at all. Just Kinda help it along. Great Handling
I have to say my Ducati is probably one of the best bikes I have ever ridden. When I heard about how great the ducati was I never believed it. But now that I am acually riding one its the best bike Ive ever had.
FBF Slip On Exhaust, FBF Power Commander, FBF Air Filter Kit, Emissions removed, Ducati Carbon Fiber Air runers.
any flat spots etc. Once I installed the above upgrades power delivery is smooth al the way through the power band. 120 HP with 83 lbs of torque (Dyno Tested). Stock during the break-in there was a flat spot at 3200 rpm.
Feel, Strength Compared to the ZX7R, I owned and my current 98 GSXR 750 the best bike breakes I have ever used. No fade, smooth predictable response every time.
Just the best handling sport bike I have ever riden or owned. It lives up to it's legend, spot on and very forgiving, just point and shoot, I actual took turns on a road with two friends who have GSXR 750 and all of our times and speed through a one mile twisty section were up on average 10% over our tried and true GSXR's.
Just an awsome bike but comes at a heavy price tag, I paid $15,000 with the Ducati rebate but as I switch back and forth with my GSXR I can honestly say it is worth every penny and I love my GSXR.

nah!
opened up cans, lazy clutch slave cylinder, preformance chip, in box filters
excellent response and heaps of pull, but can't get rid of miss at 3500-4000 RPM Might try a power commander ?
brakes have never let me down, always pulled me up in time. sometimes can fade but not often.
This bike brand handles like no other, i've pushed it to the limit many times, even when i've made mistakes it always seemed to be forgiving, both on a track day or out on the street.
Bought this bike new back in '99 and i have raced more bikes then i could remember, where it lacks in horsepower it makes up for in the corner so watch out. Raced a 2003 R1 yesturday over the quarter mile, he won by about two bike lengths, but still not bad for a five year old bike hey !
Cored pipes, FIM chip, ITG air filter, Ohlins shock, multiple CF bits, some Ti fasteners, smoke windshield, 14 tooth counter shaft sprocket, Yoyodyne clutch slave cylinder, and counting...
Very smooth power except for slight snatch off idle during throttle transitions. Slightly less pull than M900 at low RPM but charges fine on top end (99 HP stock, 106 HP with cored pipes, chip, air filter per BCM dyno). Rolls out of corners very stong with immediate response. I would love the additional grunt of a 996 or 998 but honestly, the 916 has plenty of power for the curvy mountain roads I ride.
Stock brakes (single pin, 40mm spacing) not too impressive any more. Looking at upgrading to 998R items and possibly Brembo radial pumps. Back brake also Ok but could use some improvements.
A bit slow turning but extremely stable and confidence inspiring. On tight roads, an R6 would eat it but for real world smooth fast street riding, it's the bike to have. Ohlins rear shock is great. I've recently bought later model TiN coated forks that will support 998R brakes and will install them in the Spring.
Around the town use is a (painful) waste. It's not particularly comfortable, does not like traffic, and its clutch pull effort will ruin your wrist(Yoyodyne slave is an improvement). Maintenance costs are high, especially compared to Asian superbikes. Reliability has been excellent but much of that is due to BCM's care. Since they are not that common, aftermarket parts seem to be more pricey when compared to other superbikes. However, I would not trade this bike for anything except a 998! Absolutely love it. It was the premier Superbike 10 years ago and still commands considerable attention/lust now. I've ridden other late model 4 cylinder sportbikes and while there is some fantastic stuff out there, they never will have the 916's World Championship racing pedigree or give you that big smile inside your helmet as you come out of a corner under power with that beautiful L-twin sound. To me, a great bike is one that you end up naming and when ridden, is just an absolute gas. I've been riding /touring / racing for 32 years; the 916 is a great bike.
Termignoni exhaust bellows and sets off car alarms. Carbon fiber clutch cover.
No flat spots after power commander. Torque is amazing. This bike loves to save its front tire. Wheelies are a twist of the throttle. It's not like a rice rocket, where you feel that rush. It's more like: Damn am I really going this fast?
All I can say is Brembo baby!! Best brakes in the world. Just ask anyone who drives a F1 or Indy car.
I've had a CBR F4i and a CBR XX. I've ridden the Gixxer 1000, and all I can say is Ducati is legendary for a reason.
I absolutely love this bike!! I paid $16 grand for my Matrix edition and in 5 years I could sell it for more. The green paint scheme is gorgeous. Talk about a head turner. And then there's that Termi exhaust. Bellisimo!! I don't see myself ever owning another Jap bike. And I am doing a total 180. The Jap bikes have more power. But any damn fool can twist the throttle and go fast. But, the Duc is truly a all around superbike. And it's a work of art on 2 wheels. People who bad mouth Ducati's, have never rode one, and are jealous because they can't afford one.
52mm carbon termis, lots of carbon goodies, new ECU for fuel mapping as this model cannot be chipped.
the new Testastretta motor is superb, I was surprised how smooth it was at low speed in town. No lumpiness or snatch from the Marelli Injection system.Out on the open road it just got better, go into a turn off the throttle and engine braking allows you to be balanced without having to scrub off speed with the brakes, then just roll it on all the way round, not a glitch in sight,
powerfull yet smooth because of the 4 pot callipers up front, rear brake is there just to bring things back in line if you need to while getting in a little too hot.
Ducati's trademark, sublime tractabillity, gets better the harder you ride it
an absolutely marvelous bike to ride and own. Ducati have really sorted the reliability problems now and I will never go back to owning a jap bike again.I had a 2001 748s before this one and no probs with that.If you have never ridden a 916-998s I would highly recomend it.A different riding style, a different experience,

any flat spots etc. No injection issues. Very linear throttle response with no flat spots evident.
Feel, Strength Excellent feel at all applied pressure levels. No fade and elevated speeds even with stock brake pads.
The best I've ever ridden out of the box. Full adjustability allows maximum tunability for individual rider styles and weights.
My 916 has been very reliable so far and the combination of power delivery and handling fit my style and needs fully. There are some general reliability issues such as voltage regulators, alternator nuts coming loose and flaking rocker arms on the 4 valve motors but fixes are available. Unfortunately, the general consensus among owners is that authorized Ducati service, customer service and overall parts availability is seriously deficient. These issues tend to dampen the desireability of the marque and makes ownership an occasional challenge. Comfort may be an issue for some but other Ducati models cover this aspect adequately.
Termi aftermarket exhaust Chip ugrade Steel braided brake lines carbon foot guards and exhaust guard
Roll on is flawless, 1st gear roll on wheelies are easy. Corner exit is a breeze with twin power. No recognizable flat spots. Pulls well from 2 grand to red line.
When stopping is needed, it does it smoothly and efficiently.
Stable, point and shoot through the corners.
I have ridden the big 4 750's since the early 90's and the Ducati superbike (916/996) is easily on par in all aspects with what Asia produces. If you have the opportunity to buy one you will not regret it.
