Mods

No modifications other than removing the passenger footpegs.

Carberation

No flat spots that I can find, smooth the entire way through the power band, of course the 15,000 RPM redline is a bit deceiving for some people because the peak power is at 12,750 or so, everything esle is just overage if you need it in the corners etc.. Having the 2 stage fuel injection really helps the low end be as smooth as possible.

Brakes

Brakes feel very positive, stop very fast, but I would still like to see steel braided brake lines on this bike stock, you pay enough for it.

Handling

Handling is absolutely amazing, the bike responds to every input very well, very stable. You do of course need to be carefull getting on the throttle early in the corners as this bike is very powerful and you sit very far forward. It is not difficult to get the rear end loose but recovering is very easy if you do. In the corners the bike feels so stable it begs you to lean further and go faster. Side to side transitions are effortless, the new rear suspension does not flex under acceleration so travel is not lost while accelerating out of the corners. The front suspension is a bit soft out of the box, but crank up the settings and it is perfect.

Comments

The only thing about this bike that I can find as a negative is the seat, it wouldn't be great for day long rides, but hey, it is a race bike and when you are in the corners is just fine. Otherwise this bike is amazing.

Brakes

Stop the bike at high speeds real fast. The brakes are real responsive and I like them a lot.

Handling

Handles like a dream, corners excellent and is real smooth. I can take corners real quick because able to lay down bike more cause exhaust is under the seat.

Comments

I would recommend this bike to anyone, new or experienced. This bike is a lot of fun and hauls ass.

Mods

Nothing - just a removal of that huge stock mud flap! and the signals.

Carberation

rear sets are a bit low but thats what aftermarket is all about - but the sparks are kinda cool. other than that the bike is perfect.

Brakes

the brakes have a raceworthy feel with a little bit of fade under high repeated use. the 310 disks are very strong and have a nice sound to them when braking heavily. I am planning on trying some EBC or Brembo Rotors when they come out and switch to steel braided lines.

Handling

The handling is raceworthy and screams to lean even more. The bike is the definition of flickable - Its as though you can get on the throttle very early in the turn. If you are 200+ pounds i suggest adjusting the suspension as it is a bit soft in stock form. The gearing is perfect i wouldnt change anything about the gearing.

Comments

I am awaiting the deployment of Yoshi's single (http://www.formula1mc.com.au/newreleases.htm and Formula 1's dual exhaust systems (http://www.formula1mc.com.au/newreleases.htm check them out - they should be out soon. Honda really set a new standard with this bike, i think the rest of the BIG FOUR will follow. I've ridden all the 03's from the big four and the only thing that came close was the R6. The Kawasaki although the bigger motor, it would give you trembles in the corners and the gearing is not matched well which hurt the overall package. The Gixxer (unchanged in 03) although a great and respected bike sufferd when it came to over all speed and power due to its outdated powerplant - but it will be new for 04. just look what Suzuki did for the Gixxer 1000R. Hands down to the 03 CBR600RR the best 600 on the market today.

Mods

stock-still during break in period

Carberation

none, the pgm-fi seems to have taken care of the sputterring from previous cbr 600 models

Brakes

excellent breaking, only thing missing are steel braided break lines

Handling

front suspension seems a little soft, the rear unit-pro link enhances drivability at increased lean angles but make sure you keep the weight on the rear wheel by gradually accelerating through the turn-bike has tendency to loose grip if too much weight is put on the front fork

Comments

great overall bike, starter or advanced riding, great acceleration and top speed, superior breaking and handling, I wonder if Honda will surprise us with next years cbr 1000rr model as much as they did with this 600rr.

100% Stock-Just stiffened real suspension.

Carberation

a slight bit sluggish in the lowest rpm range, but from 6000 on up the throttle response is very smooth and the power is instant. I love cranking on it in 2nd gear while in town.

Brakes

The brakes seem to be very strong and work well together. the faster you're going the better they work

Handling

same with the brakes. the faster you go, the better it handles. I'm anxious to get about 6 months in on this bike...become one. it's very balanced, all you have to do is look in the direction you want to go and you're there.

Comments

I don't have a whole lot of experience to base a comparison on, but every thing about this bike so far is awesome. Its fast, the acceleration is so instant that instant isn't the word I'd like to use..it looks awesome (I've got the black one) I'm just still in awe that it's actually mine. I do have to be honest about one thing though...THE STOCK SEAT IS BRUTAL. Ride this bike for an hour and a half on the interstate and you'll be walking like a cowboy when you get off. Other than that, I find the riding position very comfortable. GREAT BIKE!!!!

Pretty good b/t 4000 & 8000 rpm. After that you can feel the rear tire grabbing for everything it's worth.

Carberation

No flat spots at all, this baby's smooth as it gets! Does not like the low rpms though - all the way up to 3k, after 3k it's heaven.

Brakes

Very stron brakes. Have been riding pretty hard & using them extensively - no fade as of yet; am impressed

Handling

Easily best in the 600 class. I've ridden all the others & the R6 is the next in line, but not in the same class. Kinda surprising since the RR is the chub of the class.

Comments

The bike so far is absolutely flawless and that's really impressive given the abuse I've put it through. I have noticed that bike has developed a deeper, more mature sound as of the last 200 miles. I do hear it eats oil though? - not the case here.

Two Brothers C5 carbon slip-on Power Commander IIIusb Two brothers fender eliminator kit

Carberation

Initial installation of PC had severe glitches. Don't ride it until it has been programed with your mods, as well as calibrating the throttle. Also, the Power commander splice that taps into the throttle position sensor needs some tlc to get a good connection. Some(very little) stripping of the wire it snaps onto may be required. After all mods: LOUD, Smooth as silk, and oh so fun!

Brakes

Plenty of stopping power for me. Going to get braided lines for looks.

Handling

Mods

M4 Carbon Fiber sli-on.

Carberation

I noticed no flat spots or glitches. The carburetion is smooth and consistant through the powerband.

Brakes

The brakes are an improvement over the previous f-series Hondas I've ridden. It seems as if the faster you're going the stronger the brakes become.

Handling

one word "AUTOPILOT" During a corner the bike begs you to go faster and lean harder.

Comments

The only complaint I have about the RR is it's low RPM performance. When riding, I found it best to ride about 1 gear higher than you would on other bikes. As long as you keep the revs above 5500 or so you'll never be disappointed. Great bike for beginners or and experienced riders alike.

after riding an f3, f4i, r6, and gsxr 600 this is hands down the smoothest and most powerfull, the r6 comes close but a friend of mine races an r6 and hates honda, but admits he cant keep up with 600rr on the track.

Brakes

Carberation

Very smooth and once you get above 6000 rpm's the bike really begins to show you what it has!!!

Brakes

Very good for slowing down at high speeds, back brake could be a little tighter out of the box.

Handling

I have never had a bike that can transfer like this dream machine, the under seat exaust really helps in the turns.

I sugest this bike to anyone who is into track racing, or even canyon riding.

I had the Yoshi pipe fitted and the bike recalibrated.

Carberation

Smooth acceleration throughout the rev limits. Only really starts performing from 8000 rpms up.

Brakes

Front brakes are race quality. When going for my drivers, I actually did a stoppie when doing the emergency stop. The rear brakes are okay, but I don't use them that much.

Handling

Handles better than any bike I have ridden. Its closest rival is probably the Aprillia RS250, but this bike is much more compact and the handling kicks the Aprillia's ass!

Carberation

A little off-idle hesitation that was solved by adding the Power Commander IIIusb. Other than that, very smooth.

Brakes

Good Brakes. Felt a bit soft until I changed to the Galfer SS Brake lines, Galfer Brake Pads and Galfer Wave Rotors. Now it has excellent brakes.

Handling

Superb. Once the suspension is dialed in the bike feels like it's on rails.

Comments

Best bike I've ever owned (previous bikes: '82 Yamaha SECA 750, '01 Zawasaki ZR-7s, '02 Yamaha FZ-1, '98 Honda Superhawk & '01 Honda CBR600 F4i). On the streets (and canyons) I have been able to keep up with (and pass) many liter bikes. Haven't had it to the track yet. I would not recommend this bike to beginners. Despite being such a great bike, I think is may have too much power for the novice.

Carberation

Original off/on tick to throttle - power commander smoothed this out and goes well when rolled on the right way.

Brakes

Best of the best - radial (f)master/lever - rotors - great feel but need to watch grabbing too much at once - if you don't want to spend as much for new forks or bottoms to use radial calipers on a 600RR this is the way to go.

Handling

Spot on and I am 6'1" 210 lbs. For the busy traffic in my area the smaller bike feels good. But what do I know I have ridden mostly dirt bikes for most riding in the past 15 years and since I mtn bike the over the front of the bars feeling is natural to me..

Comments

I give it a 9 because only a couple things were necessary to improve upon - but costly. Saving weight and increasing HP makes a big diff with this.

Carberation

I have no flat spots after mods. When purchased it had what seemed to be a slight hesitation in low-end power. Sprockets and chains seemed to correct this significantly.

Brakes

Braking is outstanding. I am curious to see how much better it will be on the track after placing stainless steal brake lines.

Handling

Wow, is there a word in the english language for the ability of this machine? Perfect. Little tight in how do I say from right to left turns back to back or vise versa.

Honda realy did good with this bike. Young or old. If you want a sport bike this one is the one. You can truly grow into this bike. And I promise you will never get tired of it. Might want to change the seat. Hard on the but.

Brakes

Best I have ever had on a bike, almost stops to quickly.

Handling

Perfect handling, with the unit pro-link the bike beggs to be leaned, scraping pegs and boots are no problem with this bike. It feels very stable in all types of conditions. When the back end brakes loose in turns it can be recovered easily.

The seat needs to be worked on some, Why is it that Honda is the only one that decieded to use a plank for a seat. I understand it is a race seat, but the other 600's of similar class have nicer seats. Only one other thing I noticed is that there is a lot of transfer of engine vibration to the clip ons, it's not that big of a deal but after a day of hard riding it is kind of a sucks when your hands are kind of numb. Other than that it is an outstanding bike.

I just bought this bike a few weeks ago, and havent had much time on her; just 75 miles so far. But, Ive been riding motorcycles for years, and have had plenty of time to go over her head to toe. First off, the revamps for 2005 are outstanding. The powerband is much more linear than the previous model. You always have plenty of torque and horsepower at practically any engine speed. Despite what anyone says, this is NO beginners bike! The myth of 600s being your first bike is over and done with; at least when dealing with the new Yamahas, Hondas, and Kawasakis. This is plenty of bike for 98% of you out there. The overall styling is great; for only the second time in history (in my opinion) this sportsbike has the perfect flow and appearance without stupid obstructions and designs (The new R1s share that honor as well). The seat is large and flat, but could use another inch of padding. The center-up exhaust is beautiful, not to mention functional. The sound of the exhaust and engine are the most perfect blend of aggression Ive ever heard in a sportsbike; a real winner! No reason to swap out this exhaust with an aftermarket (unless you're on the path to ultimate horsepower of course). I havent gotten anywhere near the 15,000 redline (breaking her in like a good rider), but 8,000 alone was enough to make every head anywhere near me turn in complete awe. The handlebars are in perfect placement. Riding discomfort is minimal as compared to the others; it is a sportsbike after all. For all you cruiser riders-gone-sportbike, give it a few hundred miles to get used to the new riding position before you moan n groan. The bike is very inviting to an aggressive riding position when its called for. You comfortably slide back to the rear cowl, you lower your head, and your arms fall very comfortably in a controlling position. The inverted fork gives you that added feeling of confidence. Although the overall weight is not very light as compared to the competition, the bike has the best feel of solidity and tossability of all the 600s I tested. It feels solid, flickable, and in control. Braking is beyond acceptable; its too good. If you grab that front brake aggressively, you better be holding on for dear life or youre going over the top. Usual Honda fit and finish from head to toe; I didnt spot an ounce of cheapness. The gearbox is crisp and dependable; another Honda usual. The clutch feels a little tight to pull, but Im sure its just because its new. The instrument panel is modern and functional; the LCD gas gauge is a great plus. Throttle response is amazing thanks to the remapping of the injectors by the geniuses at Honda. The perils Honda faced in the past few years of flat spots and weak midrange power have been demolished. Ive been riding for 9 years, and Ive test-ridden the following 600s 2005 Yamaha, 2004 Kawasaki, 2004 Suzuki. I chose the Honda after careful deliberation because she is the most street-worthy 600 of them all. Not the fastest, not the lightest, but definitely the best overall bike. Honda quality, amazing refinements, comfort, and styling. Pick up a new insurance policy with State Farm and save biiiiiiiiiig money; they dont penalize you for owning a sportsbike; its all by engine ccs only. Finally, the first sportsbike that has everything I want! Highly Recommended!
