any flat spots etc. Pulls really strong from 5000rpm up, whellies easily in 1 and 2 gaer and will hold through 3rd. It is fuel injected. Lots of airbox noise, needs more intake air but I haven't found a kit yet.
Brakes
Feel, Strength Brakes extremly well but rear tire slides quickly in turns if you brake to fast. Can stop faster than all my friends.
Handling
Handles like a dream from 0 to 150, thats the fastes Ive had it but it will do more the wind pressure is just to much that fast due to no fairings.
Comments
Get lots of comliments on its looks people are allways asking what it is and saying how fast it looks. I've been on 5 hour trips on it and could still go farther its comforatable.

OEM Windscreen: Easy to install, cheap, and really helps as reduce the wind at higher speeds
Carberation
Solid acceleration through all gears. I have never been left by anything in its class!
Brakes
Fronts have not failed me yet, but the back will lock up if you're not careful.
Handling
Even a new sportbike rider can throw it around in the corners.
Comments
I traded in a cruiser for this bike because it is practical, much more comfortable than a full sport bike so I can commute with it. It handles and gets up like a sport bikes. I have my cake and eat it too.

The best I have ridden yet, loves the twisty stuff, easy round town and very light and flickable. Bags of power when you need it. You can never have too much HP!!
Comments
Love the look and feel of this bike. It has great acceleration and handling but I have not pushed it to anywhere near its limits yet. Nice to have a bike without $$$$ of plastic on it. A real naked bike that will put a smile on your face for sure. Gonna keep this one. Nice one Honda!!!!

any flat spots etc. - Nice broad powerband, from start to rev limiter. A friend with a GSXR-750 about had a canary when I ran off and left him at a light. The one bad spot is the throttle cable gets out of adjustment rather frequently, but that's an easy fix.
Brakes
Feel, Strength - Solid, consistent braking, with no discernable fade. But like so many others, I find that the back tire slides a bit too easily on the stock tires, but the remedy comes tomorrow with a set of Michelin Pilot Road tires in the factory sizes.
Handling
Frighteningly nimble and light, with a mild tendency for headshake in hard cornering on not-so-even pavement. Can also induce a good tailshake on concrete bridges that come around corners, but only while the tires are cold. Otherwise, sticks like rubber cement. Can follow an R6 in all but the most extreme circumstances, and if you get straight in the road, the R6 is looking at your fading taillights.
Comments
This bike is pure and simple theft! You just can't get this kind of fun for that little money anymore. The one real downside has been the lack of an adjustable suspension, which Honda was duly chastised for, and has since made up for on the 2004 model, both front and read, compression and rebound. Might have to consider a trade...

Replaced stock turn signals with smaller silver Lockhart units. Looks more like a Hooligan. Joe Rocket tank bag fits nicely. Along with Tour Master duffle bag for the rear. Looking next to change the exhaust.
Carberation
This bike is a kick in the pants. Smooth power for relaxed riding or balls to the wall when you want it. Thanks to the engineers who invented fuel injection.
Brakes
Solid through and through.
Handling
I previously owned a 600F2. The 919 feels just as light in the curves but with a lot more power.
Comments
I can only hope that the Honda engineers would see the light and jump on the wagon and start designing some after market add ons, exhausts, mirrors, small fairings etc.. I've ridden this bike from Los Angeles to Vegas and it just loves that open road.
Mods
Remus exhaust, rear tail modified with "hornet tail" turn signals and neon blue light for plate. Aftermarket rear shock.
Carberation
Bike pulls hard in all gears and is smooth without a "punch". Love to jump from 75mph to 105 mph on freeways with a flick of the wrist.
Brakes
Have not hit the rear brake hard yet, riding style is to feather the fronts heading into corners with light pressure on rear.
Handling
One word - nimble. What else needs to be said.
Comments
Great naked bike. Rode for a couple hours in the back mountain roads after an oil change and had to force the smile off my face an hour after the ride. Would like to get the Honda wind screen for the bike to enjoy freeway riding with being beat up by wind.
Mods
Stock with original Honda windshield. It does improve freeway driving, at easy 100-110 m.p.h.
Carberation
Excellent power and torque deliver. Average 35-36 miles x gal. city drive(hard rev.) and 39-42 miles x gal. freeway driving(80+ m.p.h.) Smooth acceleration.
Brakes
Good feedback and more than expected stoping power.
Handling
I'm 6'3" 270# riding position is very good and this bike handling is quick and predictable, feels smaller and very nimble. Adjustable suspention front and back will make this one even better.
Comments
So far I got it up to 125 m.p.h. but this baby could go up much more(especially if you are on the 140-160#), I just don't got the balls, especially on Cal-free...$ This is not a racing bike, but it can chase them right on their tail. On the contrary, on twisted road the race bike will try hard to keep up with you!
Mods
Modifications : Givi 755 windscreen, comes painted to match, smoke screen, comes up to within 2 inches of the top of the mirrors. Great wind protection! Also installed Renthal bars for a KX80, same profile as the stock bars but the mx cross bar eliminates any felt vibration.
Carberation
The power and gearing are aimed at mid range, that makes this a most streetable real world ride. The fuel injection is flawless, thats important to me... I spent 11 years as a Honda mechanic (auto) and I really like the Honda product line.
Brakes
I cant complain, they stop me fine.
Handling
I ride 18 miles to work, 9 on straight back roads and 9 on a twisty canyan like road. Handling is great, no complaints. Riding position is very comfy ... unlike my RG.
Comments
I can't say enough about the combination of usable power, handling and riding position, makes going to work worth it! I would like a factory 1/2 fairing like the SV series has! A clock would be nice too.

Somewhat abrupt FI takes getting used to, smooth otherwise, no flat spots, etc...
Brakes
Great! No fade, but annoying squeal.
Handling
Very good for moderately aggressive street riding. Very aggressive riding shows the shortcomings of the suspension and frame, but then again this bike isn't intended as a pure sports bike.
Comments
This is a great all arounder and performs it's designed job perfectly. It is a blank page that the owner turns into whatever they want (except a pure sportsbike). Get it and you won't regret it! I have 33,000 trouble free miles on mine.

2005 Honda 919's list for $8,399 as of February '05, up from $8,099 last year. '05 919 models will be available March '05. Dealer invoice on the '05 model is $7289 which includes freight. Honda's recommended assembly cost, which is not reimbursed to the dealer by HOnda, is $32. Dealers regularly charge $250 to $350 for "dealer prep"! There's a 5% dealer holdback by Honda, meaning after about 6 months, Honda will pay the dealer 5% of the dealer invoice on each Honda sold. Dealers shoot for 10% profit, but vary as to whether they count the 5% holdback they receive. An out-the-door price of $7,321 plus local tax represents a sale at no current profit. Work from there to add a fair profit for your local dealer (keep 'em alive and well fed, folks!), and you come up with a fair selling price.
Carberation
Geared and tuned for the 0-90 real world. After that, if you're still looking to accelerate, go with the big Kaw or the FZ1.
Brakes
Handling
An excellent stree compromise. FZ1's have better top end. In the 0-90 real world, the 919 is quicker.

Very linear power delivery. Slightly jerky accel b/w 3000-4500, once your used to it it's no problem and instant response.
Brakes
Solid, no noticeable fade. May add steel lines to get a bit more bite on top.
Handling
Very nimble. Handles great in the twisties. You have to try to get bad turns. Once I played with the suspension a little more, it got much better for my 225# frame.
Comments
What a ball to ride. Power on demand from 3000 up. Pulls hard past 5000 but lacks the kick you will get from the Z-Rex or Fazer (I would prefer the linear myself). This the easiest to ride bike I have ever ridden. Could use about 10 more horse, but for the steal that I picked it up, $6400, who's complaining. I like the under seat exhaust, but it's love or hate. I can touch the shields with my hands after hard riding.
Mods
Center stand, Rizoma mirrors, Michelin Pilot Sport.
Carberation
During the first 300 miles, the FI was almost unberable as I was accustomed to normally non-injected machines. "Jerky" throttle movement and road noise was typical. It leveled off and is now predictable and strong to upper limits and comfortable at lower city speeds without the "surge" that used to be there.
Brakes
Smooth and predictibly linear with no apparent fade even under hard use. If anything, this machine is over equipped in this department. At first, I found the rear a little "spongy" but after a few hundred miles it came in to match the power of the front.
Handling
As I grew up on CBR6 and 900's, this was a bit new. Getting to trust the bike in the corners was easy and soon found myself cutting lines that I wouldn't have tried on previous machines. I did wait till 2004 for the suspension adjustment and it's worth it as I've ridden both. I'm still finding new areas to give me a reason to replace the pegs.
Comments
Fantastic bike. I generally ride it every non-raining day to work and back and look forward to humbling every twin that I come in contact with. I let my riding friend take it out yesterday and now he's looking to get rid of his CBR. I would suggest it to anyone with a touch of experience under their belt.

i had to have one the injectors replaced after 1000 miles. It was hydrolocking, and started cutting out at a steady speed. There was gas getting into the oil, as well as the air filter. I was very disapointed, since i have only been able to ride it for 600 miles. That serious problem aside, it is a very fun bike to ride.

a little squirley after 7/10ths. i swap and ride a 1200 bandit and a ducati 900 ss sometimes. i love the hondas tossability, but the corbin seat sits higher and adds mass. i live in the tourist area of east tn. the newlyweds and the nearly deads are tough to share the road with. the nimblness of the 919 is awesome.

i sold the '72 cb750 20 years ago and have been bikeless. the wife would not allow it. a buddy bought an 01 bandit and let me ride it. heavy but what a powerhouse. the minute i laid eyes on the matte green paint job i wrote a check. my brother has a rat ducati that i lust for, but the honda reliabilty keeps my feet on the pegs.
Mods

no flat spots - excellent acceleration 2000-9500 rpm
Brakes
Feel really strong, Strength as good as any today
Handling
Light, nimble. However, a couple of times had head shake during high speed acceleration. After adjusting angle of windscreen, seems to be OK.
Comments
Light, nimble, comfortable. Best to add a large windscreen for freeway comfort, and 17 tooth drive gear to lower freeway RPM's
Mods
Jardine Supersport Fender Kit, Motivation Sliders, new Michelin Pilot Powers, tank cover and more to follow.
Carberation
Fuel injection is smooth and crisp. No dead spots, nice kick around 5000 rpm.
Brakes
Braking is acceptable but could be improved. Maybe stainless lines would help.
Handling
Handling is fairly quick, stable but could be improved with aftermarket suspension. I read an article that say the suspension was "sub par" I wouldn't go that far but it could be better. Overall handling is good and it easy to feel comfortable even while hard cornering. It takes a major mistake to cause a tankslapper situation.
Comments
Overall this is a great bike however Honda could do a few things to improve it. A few more horsepower, better suspension and braking would help. But this is bike you can ride 300miles a day easy without being sore. Aftermarket parts are limited but more choices are coming gradually.
Mods
Givi handlebar fairing (colour-keyed). Center-stand.
Carberation
Power delivery is spot-on at all RPM.
Brakes
Feel is good, but tends to nosedive in the front-end (forks too soft) (I'm 185#). Strength is good in front, poor in rear.
Handling
Terrific. (would do better with less mushy fork).
Comments

After a Valk and a VTX 1800 I was wanting something lighter and more flickable, but retaining the power. Contrasting to the cruisers it feels like a CB 100. Great in town and with the shield it's a highway flyer. With some kind of luggage I'm planning on a few long trips. After riding the heavy weights I'm ecstatic about the quick handling. AND a passenger is no Problemo.....
Comments
Love the bike. For what I want and use it for it is great. Luggage is the only limitation. There are racks and always tank bags. But there are not the many choices as there were for the Valk and VTX 1800. I'd like some throw-overs, but the high pipes make that a little difficult.....
