Mods

Totally stock!!

Carberation

Power is buzzy down low HOWEVER when you treat this twin like an inline four only FUN stuff happens!!

Brakes

BEST chassis BEST brakes BEST all around handling!! I have never seen a bike that adapts to a rider better!! I have owned MANY different sport bikes and the RC-51 is by far the best curvy road bike I have thrown a leg over.

Handling

GREAT!!

Comments

If you have the means or know someone who owns one do what you need to , to get a ride on one and head for the curves!!!!!

List the modifications on this bike sTANDARD

Carberation

poor around town partly due to tall 1st gear and also down to on off throtle at low revs

Brakes

Fantastic v-powrefull

Handling

Not quite as quick to turn has alonger feel as apposed to fireblde

Comments

This bike is un like other Hondas in that i can list several niggles unlike fireblade that i couldnt fault other than being too common. sp niggles are 1. A bit jerky at low revs around town 2. Fuel range due to consumption poor 3. Boots can burn on exhausts 4. Trip button on mileometor cant be zerod with glove 5. Hard ride on bad roads 6. No room in tail for light oversuit 7. Not as comfortable to ride long distance as blade THIS BEING SAID I WOULD NOT CHANGE (EXCEPT 4 SP2)

Steering damper only, so far.

Carberation

Glitches at low revs due to fuel injection.

Brakes

Fantastic - one finger job.

Handling

Outstanding. Owned a Fireblade before but this is in another league. Totally stable and confidence inspiring.

Comments

Have owned about 12 bikes but is far and away the best so far. Best looking bike on the planet as well (SP-2). The current model has many improvements over the SP-1 (sorry sp-1 owners)

Mods

Just an undertail thus far,oh and my usual Ouri grips.Plan to get an M4 high mount exhuasts since it 's small and lets me keep (not that I'll ever use em) passenger pegs.

Carberation

Aside from the loping idle which I'm told is normal I don't mind the tall first gear or any other glitches since I am so pleased with the bike.

Brakes

Front brakes must 've been lifted of a porsche 996 cause they are scary powerful, but better that then scary crappy brakes !

Handling

I owned a 96 Ducati 900ss ( my first bike) before this and I have never felt so confident in tossing this bike into turns and excelerating out like a beast. The bike feels very surefooted and confidence inspiring.

Comments

I will never buy anything other then a Honda V-twin or a V-four for that matter. If you don't have one run out and get one before they run out for this year and if you allready have one go out and get another for your loved one! haha!

Carberation

Mods

Scotts Steering Damper,Staintune Exhausts, Braided lines, K&N Filter, and various cosmetic mods

Carberation

Throttle is a bit snatchy at low revs, Rear suspension can get hydraulic lock at speed on bumpy roads. Rear Suspension is difficult to set up. A suspension respring and revalve should fix this.

Brakes

good without braided lines, awesome with braided lines. Used on track days got great feel with little fade if any.

Handling

Could turn in better, but hey shes a big girl! Tracks very well once established in the corner.

Comments

This is my first V twin and is a lot of fun. I have owned and riden alot of in line fours, but they can't give you that sound that only a V twin makes in full flight. You can always by a faster bike, but if you want fun this is it!

Mods

Bone Stock, plan to put on a full pipe, Power Commander, and K&N air filter. If you got the "bling" go with full synthetic oil. 3 to 4 horsepower and a couple of Ft Lbs 'o grunt go a long way.

Carberation

Power hits like an inline four. Pick your gears and reap the rewards!

Brakes

One finger job. Very little fade.

Handling

Hides its weight well. Compaired to my '98 Gixxer 750, the 51 makes me feel like Collin Edwards.

Comments

I could have purchaced a brand new Gixxer... Im so glad I bought the Honda!

Steering damper; wolf racing end cans; power commander; ohlins rear shock.

Carberation

A few at low revs; improved with power commander slight flat spot at 5,000 revs.

Brakes

Excellent

Handling

Outstanding. Get the suspension sorted for your weight etc. Ohlins rear suspension enables the bike to be raised at the back giving sharper steering.

Comments

May be eclipsed in power by newer bikes, but the Honda remains a fairly rare, exotic machine that speaks quality and remains one of the few true race bikes for the road. Best bike on the planet!

Mods

power commander, k&n filter, scott's damper & soon two bro's exhaust

Carberation

very sluggish under 2500-3000 but after that very very tweeky basicly you screw the throttle and you slam off the rear seat & hold on untill after 130ish huge top end hey try smokin a viper try to see the look on thier face in your side view hahahhahahaha

Brakes

exellent braking kinda hard for a stoppie unless you panic stop it around 30ish then ride it out other than than stops about as fast it goes for 400+ pounds

Handling

never loose just watch your speed throw the rear end then counter steer the hell outta it clutch & ride it out loves to lay low around corners *WATCH YOUR KNEES!!!* jean's hurt... experience is painful

Comments

exellent bike for racing & flying around towns never have to worry about getting passed however . 1 downside its a race bike the rearsets are set high (footpegs) & the hadlebars are set low making you a bullet hard to go over 75 mile ride without stretching maybe try wrapping your wrist & going faster ?

1 tooth down on front, 1 up on back. Sato low mounts, PC2, Corbin seat, Heli Bars, undertail, double bubble windscreen.

Carberation

any flat spots etc. I find this big twin awesome, corsa tires and I'm leaving everybody out of the corners. It was stumbly off line till I did the sprockets. Mapped in more fuel in mid range. This bike is always predicatble but it is directly related to the condition of your rear tire.

Brakes

Feel, Strength. Front brakes fade a little under severe use, HRC brake pads are the best I could find but went thru them pretty quick.

Handling

I love this bike but make no mistake it does inspire a little false confidence. Great tires are essential, I've never rode a bike that is so easily affected by some tire wear. Stay commited to your line, the bike can do it!

Comments

I love my RC, ducks are wonderful mackines to but they lack japanese refinement. I love twins as I cut my teeth on a couple of Honda Hawks, a 88 and 89.

Brakes

GOOD FEEL ONCE THEY HAVE SOME HEAT IN THEM VERY REASURRING AND CONFIDENCE INSPIRRING

Handling

LIKE A RAZOR FEELS LIKE YOU CAN SET YOUR LEAN ANGLE AND STEP OF AND THE BIKE WILL CONTINUE TO CARVE THE SAME LINE, A LITTLE SLOW ON INITIAL TURN IN, AND THE STOCK SUSPENSION IS NOT THE BEST BUT OVERALL I WOULD GIVE IT A STRONG 8

Comments

DO NOT FORGET ABOUT THIS BIKE THERE IS A RESON THAT EDWARDS AND HAYDEN WERE ABLE TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS ON THIS BIKE, YES THEY WERE ON HIGHLY MODIFIED VERSONS BUT THIS THING IS A DIRECT DECENDANT OF THOSE BIKES AND IT WAS BRED. IT SHOWS. IF YOU ARE ALREADY A GOOD RIDER THIS THING IS VERY CAPPABLE OF MAKING YOU A GOD, IF YOU ARE HAM FISTED AND JUST WANT SOMETHING TO LOOK COOL AND GO FAST IN A STRAIT LINE GO BUY A FAD BIKE LIKE THE GIXXER.

Mods

PCIIIusb, Two brothers C5 slip-ons, full crash kit it's actually a 2006 but it's mechanically the same as the 2005

Carberation

When entering a highway onramp, I get a steady pull all the way to redline. Very crisp and confidence inspiring. In the city you will only use the first two gears due to the extremely tall gearing. You can even cruise at 90mph in 3rd. Sixth gear is unusable unless you are trying to hit top speed on an open road.

Brakes

The braking power is strong yet not overwelming. I previously road a cbr600 and the brakes are a definite upgrade. I've added a good 100 lbs to the new bike and I can stop better then the 600 by far.

Handling

On my old bike i got used to bad handling. Now with the stable RC51, I can't go back to the other bike. It is simply smooth in any speed at any turn. U can lean this bike over, rip on the gas as you exit and feel your body get sucked into the seat. It is very addicting, not for the sissies out there. It takes some balls to go this fast!!

Comments

Personally, the 2006 RC51 has the tightest graphics for any biek ive seen. One issue I did have was the clutch wore out in the first 1500 miles. I'm hoping it was a fluke. You will get alot of attention with this bike, especially with an exhaust to let the roar out. Girls and guys alike give mad respect for the bike. I even got free admission to a strip club because the manager was an RC51 fanatic. How can you beat that?
