steering damper

Carberation

Below 4000rpm there is no-one home. At 10,000RPM it starts to breath. At 12,000rpm hold on.

Brakes

Great stopping power, maybe to strong

Handling

very quick, Needs steering damper!!!!!especially at high speed turns. Not a good bike to get stuck in traffic with.

Comments

Carberation

can really feel the power from 8k rpm's and up

Brakes

very strong front brakes but thats what you get with 8 little brake pads -=)

Handling

bike is really flickable through the corners you can really turn up the speed no problem hittin 130+ on those long sweepers without a steering damper.

Comments

great bike keeps up with all the bigger bikes out there and then eats them up in the corners. also makes a great bike for running from those pesky cops ;x

Handling

because the bike stock comes in at 355 lb dry Handling is up to the ability of the rider.

Comments

It's shinning feature has to be the slipper clutch It makes most riders look good. . . even when we make mistakes, The ability to carry as much corner speed as one feels comfortable with.

Handling

THIS BIKE HANDLES AWSOME IN ANY CORNER AT SLOW OR HIGH SPEED. NOTE: IT DID TAKE ME A LITTLE WHILE TO GET THE FRONT SUSPENTION JUST RITE.

VERY EASY TO DISASEMBLE FOR WHAT EVER REASON, CHROMING IT OUT, MAITENCE, PERFOMANCE PARTS, ETC...

Mods

Don't think the bike had any modifications, belive it was just stock. Test drove one at Integrity Motorsports Picnic, thought it was quick and had the power but it seemed to make the rider lean forward too much, almost uncomfortably. I currently have a 1998 ZX-9R and the ZX-6RR almost matched it in power and throtle response, I have ridden my 9R for hours on end and still felt comfortable on it after ridding so long. The 6RR made me uncomfortable after about 10 minutes. I love how that bike looks and reacts, just wish it was more comfortable to ride.

Carberation

No, the bike really performed the way I had expected it to very quick and very responsive.

Brakes

It was a new bike so I imagine that the brakes were supposed to be tight.

Handling

Thought it handled very well, tight turns and more than capable of dragging a knee.

Comments

Overall this bike kicks butt for looks and power but I could not see myself ridding it for an extended period of time without hurting my groin or back.

Mods

I have about 2500 miles on it now and I love it but if i ride it more than 30 miles at a time it hurts my crotch like hell. The shifter also acts up occasionally and doesn't want to shift into first. Other than those issues the bikes awesome.

Carberation

The shifter doesn't work as well as some of the other 2003 600's i've ridden. Gearbox seems a little off.

Brakes

Awesome brakes. Best i've found yet.

Handling

Great suspension

Comments

Great bike just not the most comfortable out there. Corners great runs awesome just sucks to ride long distances.

Mods

removed 10 mm shim from ride height

Carberation

Can really feel aND HEAR the second injector in the airbox open at about 6500 RPM. It has a very very small stumble from closed throttle to slightly open throttle in a corner. Nothing to complain about + its my fault for screwing up the corner if the throttle is all the way closed anyhow.

Brakes

No complaints. Very powerful yet easily modulated even at low speed with low traction. Never fade or lack power ever.

Handling

Still dialing in the suspension, and the Bridgestone 019 and 012 tires suck on some road surfaces, yet the bike shines and will corner at higher speeds with a comfort zone than anything Ive owned. And Im still learning and adapting to it.

Comments

Until I removed the 10 mm ride height shim, took some spring preload from the shock, lowere the compression damping a few clicks and put some more preload on the forks this bike was severely uncomfortale. The tilt of the seat would slide me forward to the degree that the gas tank felt like some kinda horrible frontside wedgie. It was bad after only 40 miles before. Now it's about as comfortable as you could realisticly hope for in a sportbike with so few comprimises.

Mods

Fender Eliminator kit. Irridescent flush front indicators. Redialed suspension.

Carberation

Below 8000 rpm, it's a little mushy but after that, there's plenty of power and screams up to the 15.5k rpm redline quicker than the 636.

Brakes

Unreal power on such a light weight. Lots of feel. Makes a novice rider look way better than his skills are.

Handling

Spot on. Take the stock preload out of the rear shock to 10mm of threads showing and soften up the compression and rebound damping. The bike isn't nearly as tippy and becomes much more stable at high speed, enough to not need a steering damper. It also lowered the bike somewhat and became far more comfortable in the seat by not feeling as though you're leaning over as much. Back off the fork preload all the way too.

Comments

After figuring out the suspension, it's a much more controlable bike for the street but this baby is just asking to be taken to the track. Haven't ever riden a bike like this that makes me feel as though I'm ready to run with the best. Handling is so quick and responsive that it just oozes confidence. Loving blowing by "other" 600's in the twisties.

Carberation

below about 4, not really good enough to even cruise with...but you hit 11-12k, hold on and enjoy.

Brakes

brakes are amazing..grabbing a quick handful of brake is much easier and quicker than needed on anything ive ridden

Handling

very nice thru sweeping turns...not especially good for city driving, however, if you take twisties to work, it's the best way to start and end a work shift.

Comments

just so much fun to ride...everything about it is designed for going a little bit faster with every part involved...much more than 'race inspired'

Yoshimura carbon-fiber race exhaust system Clear integrated tailight/with turn signals K&N airfilter

Carberation

At first my hands would go numb after about five minutes, but now I'm used to it I guess. When you get to around 12,000 rpm's, the bike really opens up and screams for more!

Brakes

So far so good, no complaints there.

Handling

Great!

Comments

Kawasaki has really put there best foot forward with this machine. I have ridden other 600's and none compare.

Mods

Woodcraft rearsets, Ohlins steering damper. All blinkers, lights, mirrors removed for track.

Carberation

Non-existent in low rpm's, typical of 600's. Get it above 9,000 or so and the bike really begins to sing.

Brakes

The low-expansion brake hoses are good stuff. Stops really well on the track, still using stock everything.

Handling

Really fun to throw into the turns. Drops in really well.

Comments

It holds its own on the straightaways on the track. Steering damper helps. A great track/race bike. To be stock, everything is quite impressive. Aftermarket stuff isn't as important on this bike, but a racier exhaust would be nice.
