The fuel injection Suzuki has developed is quite nice. The smooth delivery of power makes this big bike quite friendly. First rides should be cautious as slamming the throttle shut in a corner and allowing the generous braking of the V-Twin to take control will encourage the bike to flop. Once familiar with this new type of riding (not really evident with a inline 4) you can really square corners, snap down a gear and slid it around proficiently. This tends to be a little hard on the rubber but hey, that's what its for eh!
I feel the braking is excellent. The big six pistons up front really bring the heavy bike to a standstill quickly. The cute little back binder is supposedly engineered to prevent overuse (read skidding).
Only 3 months riding on the bike and the stable handling inspire confidence. I can easily out manoeuvre late 90's 750 class and TLRs eat Honda's Firestorm. Haven't had the opportunity to compare to RC 51 but I'm not willing to give up the semicomfortable ergos of the Suza for the crunched position of the RC. The TLR will shake its head from time to time on higer speed corner outs but the steering dampening handles what your nerve won't.
The big mellow yellow was recently stolen! I'm definately getting another. The 2002 has some good new looks. Anyone who ever sees the bike thinks its a Gixer but then they hear the V-Twin Rumble. The yellow TLR is the sexiest bike I've ever owned. Chicks absolutely love it! I know there are faster, more trick, and better handling bikes but if you are an individual who likes things slightly exotic yet with all the amenities, this bike may fit your requirements.
yoshi slip ons, cut fender, turn signals
nice and smooth, a little rough in 1st will not go slow
stops on a dime
not sure
this is my first bike. if anyone has any tips plz email me and let me know......dj_jim_bean@yahoo.com
Two Brothers C-5 Titanium slip-ons, Polished factory wheels, K&N filter, PC 2, Airbox Mod, Eurotail/hugger/taillight integrator, Second look seat skins f/r,and tank bra, LP aluminum fairing brace, Zero Gravity smoked windscreen, 41 tooth rear sprocket, Dunlop 208GP's f/r, 180/55 rear tire, Dunlop HH+ brake pads,
Awesome bottom end. Early FI was reported to have quirks, as well as the clutch. No problems with either to date. On/off throttle a bit abrubt. Requires a steady hand. Engine nearly identical in feel and power delivery to the RC51 with about 1000 more rpms to redline (best friend had an RC so I got lots of saddle time in order to compare). The top-end has enough to show it's tail section to a 916/996 Duc in a big hurry.
Two finger stoppies after addition of Dunlop pads. Far and above superior to a 00'-02' Gixxer 750 with or without the Dunlop pads.
Here we go...... Dunlop 208's vastly improved turn-in. Could use a little more spring tension in the rear, and a good aftermarket steering damper will help out also. Other than that it will run with any other of the top performers depending on your riding skills.
The aforementioned steering damper improvement will possibly save you from yourself when the inevitable tankslapped happens, and it will happen on this bike if you are riding anywhere near its outer limits. I trashed a 99'TLR 4 months after newly purchasing it. It was a violet tankslapper which resulted in a high-side, a totalled bike, a broken wrist, a broken ankle, and a huge lesson about throttle management in turns.

Feel, Strength good but i changed the (sorry in dutch)de remleidingen in rvs carbon omvlochten
i had a fireblade before, but i prfere the tl r its bigger and heavyer but thats the big i like
The looks are great accept the rear turn lights ( is the engeneer some thing forgotten and are the designd by a ,...)
Kerker Race Cans Remapped Ignition Map (Chipped) Run without airbox cover Dropped through yokes 5mm Cam timing mods 16 tooth sproket at front (down from 17) Crashed (ha ha)
Injection very agressive (snatchy)off idle. Some people don't like that kind of thing, but you just learn to treat the throttle with respect. Can be a handful in the wet if you're not concentrating, and especially powering out of a corner. Mods (especially removing airbox cover) with chip fattens midrange immensely and contributes to snatchy bottom end (but worth it). Top end suffers only by a few MPH (who goes there that much anyway?) Kerkers are almost too loud. Set off car alarms and make me feel guilty coming home late... Offer very free breathing, and sometimes a bit of flame on overrun when blipping down gears. Bottom line, if you've got a V-Twin, then these are the gear. Dyno 122 bhp at wheel with a flat torque curve (flatter than 996 SPS test at the same time) on conservative dyno. Overall, quite impressed with the power for it's year and configuration.
A bit wooden and prone to fade until switching from the OE to EBC sintered. These were great but my discs wore quickly. Not entirely impressed with feel, but front end solid as a rock. Like a ZX-7R. Rear brake does its job. Alot of bike to haul up from alot of speed. The suspension does not favours for the brakes.
Not the best. A real struggle to haul it through the twisties, and you have to rely on the favourable spread of power and torque to stay with your mates on their lighter and more flickable fours. Got a good workout every time I went for a ride though, but if I had to choose a bike to be on in an emergency where I had to change direction really fast, it wouldn't be a TL1000R...
Great bike for the road. Not for the track. You'll just end up crashing it when you go too hot into a corner (as the engine certainly provides the oomph. Good for pillions (good seat - don't burn your legs on the pipes) and had huge presence. My Yellow 98 was a real head turner, especially with the Kerkers barking. Not as easy to wheelie as you'd expect. A bit porky, but overall a satisfying bike that's somewhere between a sportsbike and a sports tourer.

any flat spots etc.first gear is slow picks up in second to third. fourth is slow. Fifth and six hang on. It can be a handful.
Feel, Strength Brakes tendtofeel soft and seem to fade after a days worth of hard riding. A combination of engine braking and good judgement in corners helps.
I have to say that all tlr owners have probably heard the same thing about it cant do this and it cant do that. The weight is an issue but the motor more than compensates. You can feel the rear sit down with hard drives out of corners so you'll have to do some set up to firm things up a bit. I have had no problem with flickability and the extra weight allows for a smooth ride even in bumpy corners. Top end is better than rc51 with similar mods. To get serious with this bike you'll need a new rear shock.
I ridden this bike up against r1s, rc51s, and dukes. There is a place in Virginia of rt. 29 called thortons gap. If you ever get the chance to ride there or have already ridden there then you know what a great road it is. As twisty as that road was I was able to outbrake and hang with all but the r1! Do not let someone tell you this bike isnt good. The bike more than easily will handle day to day duties and get down to business on the weekends. A top value too, seeing as how it will undercut its nearest competitor twin by about 1500 dollars. It also offers themost wind protection of the twins. If your looking to race it your gonna have to cough up some cash to get it on par with a duke or rsvr but overall a great bike to own. You wont regret it!
New only 830km on it and totally stock
Crusing at city speeds is not fun. The massive cam timing makes the bike want to buck and jerk so you have to ride a very heavy clutch. Also when i accelerate from this speed a flat or rather dead spot occures in the injection and the engine misses.
Very positive and strong. I have never braked very hard in corners before but this bike feels like its supposed to be a rollercoaster. That could be dangerous.
Taking the very first 1st corner on this bike left me praying to God that i wont crash. Very heavey front end at first but you get used to it very quickly and in the end is rather flickable. The heavey front end must account for the stability of the bike [i'm just thinking]
I have tried many other bikes bofore i decided in this one. The only other bike i seriously considered wasn't the sp1 but the ZX12R. That bike is a bit like a limozine on steroids. Very fast and powerfull and extremelly comfortable. ZX12R was the best bike i had ridden, but in my opinion nothing comes close to the TLR for absolute soul and character. (didnt like the sp1/2 at all)
List the modifications on this bike Remus Slip ons
any flat spots etc. Just the normal. Snatchy in the on-off throttle part. Has a little surge between 3-4000 RPM, but will do the resistor mod which is meant to clean this up.
Feel, Strength Brakes feel strong in the front. Piss in the back.
When I first got this bike it was scary. I live on a bumby country road and commute 30km's every day. I was getting very untidy in places that should be fine. I set it back to factory and it was no better. I have just set up "jamies bumpy road" settings and this has transformed the bike into what it should be.
I love this bike. It is a no compromise loud beast. I love the looks, I love the sound, I love the torque. Cant wait to get it on the track.
2002 Tl1000r Fast Yellow - Stock - This bike is a beast; it will pull as hard as you want and more! This bike gives and gives and gives more. Riding position good. Handling good. Braking good. Who really cares about 45 mpg? Acceleration, hang on tight. Ok now for the gripes. Does not like to go slow, will stumble. Can get a little hot in stop and go traffic. I put 300 miles a week on the bike with over 3k miles on it now. The bike is getting smoother as the miles go on. 85 mph - bike is not even trying 120 mph - bike handles nice 145 mph - Bike still pulls hard 155 mph - Bike still feels solid, little vibration 160 mph - Ran out of road wasn't paying attention to anything but hanging on, bike was still accelerating
any flat spots etc.
Feel, Strength
Bone-stock
All it takes is a steady hand. Wheelies fairly easily. Gobs of torque and even more horsepower.
Two fingers is all it takes. Any more and you're liable to lock things up.
It's a beast, to be sure, but it's perfect for the street or the occasional canyon blast.
A real head turner. Nobody seems to have them over here in northern Japan, so I get a lot of compliments. Definately an exotic breed with plenty of power to keep up with everyone else. Even in stock condition.
List the modifications on this bike megacycle mufflers airbox flapper valve always open {removed vacumn hose}
any flat spots etc. had a big hole in mid range with megacycle pipes and stock engine management settings, at 1st service 1000klm, had the stock settings remapped and dyno tuned, next ride wow ! big improvement, fat mid range no dips, and wheelies easy in 1st and second gear under throttle. Throttle control can be a little jerky if you are used to a carbed bike, but this is only because of the fuel injections quick response, you will get used to it.
Feel, Strength Brakes are as good as my zx9r and zx7r that i used to have, 2 fingers only needed,as 4 rear brake, good 4 tipping into corners a little tighter, or stopping the bike rolling when at intersection, apart from that i dont use it.
handling is good so far, i am about to play around with the settings, i am 102 kilos and it seems a little hard for the road,but with the fully adjustable supension, its always possible to find a good setting,just takes time, {took me about a year on the zx9r}
i havnt had the bike long 3 months i rekon, but i was looking at a zx12 or hayabusa, i went with the twin as i always liked them, i am happy i did as the power is very user friendly, has heaps of torque for wheelies, sounds great, and has a feel like no 4 cyclinder does. it will not get left behind in the tight stuff or open road, and unlike the big fours, you can get the power to the ground instantly exiting a corner without waiting for revs to build.

THIS IS A AWESOME BIKE, I HAVE RIDDEN A LOT OF OTHER BIKES AND THERE IS NO COMPARISON
goodridge hoses all round, art pro seires 2 race cans, carbon air coolers for brakes, double bubbble screen.no mirrors,undertray,207rr's
small flat spot at low reves, other wise lots of power, and can easily mix with any new bike on the road, quite often shocking many riders on 1000 4's lays down the power out of bends wonderfully, got to be the most loudest bike out their!
unreal, did somone say stoppie
nice, few people say the front end is crap, but i am 6,3 so i have a little more weight over the front, and have no problem keeping a line
the tl1000r is a awsome bike give it a try stop listening the the mag's.996's look nice but really aren't all that, tyers don't last long on the road a set of dunlop 207rr only last me 1300 miles, time to try 208 rr's
Yoshimura RS-3 Ti slip-ons. Dynojet Power Commander. Suzuki gel saddle. Reflector delete. Rear turn signals hidden in tail ducts. The usual anodized jewelry tossed at it. Regeared down 1 tooth on the countershaft sprocket. Airbox modified to remove flapper valve.
Worked on fuel delivery with the Power Commander, still can be a bit abrupt when the power chimes in. Very progressive delivery, easy to control in a slide. No need for the slipper clutch, just match your rpms to the next downshift. Rude power hit at the tourqe peak in 3rd, watch for any humps in the road.
Properly heat cycled pads work very well, real two finger brakes. I love the sizzling bacon sound hauling it down to sublight speed. You can over heat them on the street though, it is one heavy bike. I replace the fluid with full synthetic Motul every year.
A bit strange here. I discovered that my usual amount of chain slack causes the swingarm to bind under compression. Once I loosened the chain to the max reccomended slack, it worked fine. A combination of weight, power, and throttle response leads to a deliberate riding style. Plan well in advance, slow in fast out rewards the rider with deceptive speed. Your friends will despise your apparent lack of effort for a given speed.
Love the bike, it is brutal. My blue/white color makes people wonder why that GSXR sounds so funny. Problem with the pipes is they are audible over 2 miles away at full chat.
Bone stock, so far...
my first twin, either have really smooth throttle control or get your neck snapped back! really jumpy around town. Just won't go slow, loads of get up and gone, power commander should take care of any hiccups. Overall pretty smooth once ya lay it on, was impressed
Two fingers is all it takes, don't even really use the rear
Oink. Once you take the first couple corners wide and into oncoming traffic, you get used to the weight. prefers to square off corners. Ditch the rotary damper, I'm 195 lbs and it still bucks like a horse. Front's a little squirrely under heavy braking intoturns. Get ready for a workout in the twisties.
Looks ready for warp speed just sitting still. Runs warm in traffic. Hard to keep both tires on the road, snap that wrist and she's reaching for sky! You get out what you put in with this bike, takes some time to get used to, but oh so worth it! Oh yeah, chicks dig it! Gear down a tooth and you got yourself a unicycle. Great bike, great price, definitely not a "my first bike..."
Yosh RS-3 Slip ons, Power commander 2, K&N Filter, Smaller front sproket,Steal braided brake lines front and rear, Flush signals, Black speed screen, Blue Zeon lights, Perelli dragon 200/50/17 and 120/70/17 front.
Smooth exceloration, Jumpy of the line, Mr obvious says pulls good in all gears.
Great stopping power, no fading
This bike was built for me...no complaints
I give it a better feal than my ole '89 FZR1000, the gas milege could be better but F**K it!! live to ride. "Busa kiss my ass". would be nice if it had digital gauges.

Forget the journo's bullshit this bike must be tamed and when you know your own bike and properly set up to yourself this baby can stay with them all.
I HAVE OWNED A TLS AND NOW A TLR PREFER THE TLR,POWER ,COMFORTABLE/SOUND,LOOKS,THE WHOLE PACKAGE.TL POWER 4 EVER!!!!!!!
k@n filter , Yosh full system, ram air mods, power commander,
low end torque was fun power all the way through the power band. When wide open front wants to leave the ground in 1,2,3, lots of rpms for a v-twin.
brakes were tight good braking for a heavy bike could do a good endo. the brakes just don't last long.
smoooth handling on the highway. Get into some curves and feels a little heavy. doesn't want to corner the greatest.
Loved that bike wish i could have it back. It's over all one of the most enjoyable bike i've been on.
none
Awesome power from take off to rev limiter, it could stand a higher rev limiter. There is no drop off of power, and the limiter hits very suddenly.
Excellent brakes up front, the feel on the rear tends to be a bit touchy. From nothing to locked up in a microsecond.
This bike doesnt pretend to be an overweight 600. It handles well above 10 miles per hour, and is very stable at 130 plus. The steering dampner has taken out the headshake problems this bike was famous for. I hope to never have to replace this machine!!!
Sadly, this bike got a bad reputation right out of the crate. Now Suzuki is on its third attempt to find a home for this awesome motor (the TL, the V-strom, and now the SV1000.) In short, get your hands on one of these machines, you won't be disappointed.

PRETTY MUCH BONE STOCK, WILLET CO. PIPES ARE ON THERE WAY, NEED TO GET JAMIES SUSPENSION SETTINGS. ANYBODY KNOW THESE? PLEASE E-MAIL ME WITH THIS INFORMATION
FLAT SPOT AT ABOUT 4500. SOMETIMES STALLS WHEN I BLIP THE THROTTLE IN TRAFFIC. WOULD A TRE FIX THIS?
EXCELENT FEEL AND POWER IN THE FRONT BRAKES
A LITTLE PORKY. MABYE JAMIES SUSPENSION SETTINGS WOULD FIX THIS
LOVE THIS BIKE. CAN NOT STAY OFF IT PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH JAMIES SUSPENSION SETTINGS OR OTHER MODS AT triptherip@hotmail.com
My 2003 Suzuki TL1000R has many things done to it like Power Commander with Full System D&D pipes, Kevlar brake line covers, new EBC breaks, new Renthal Sprockets, Wisco Pistons, new stabliser.
Power on bike is amazing you can roll right out of turns easy with tons of torque and a really fast and loud bike.
Braking can stop on a dime. This bike is amazing when it comes to braking. Smooth and touchless braking system.
Handing is awesome front stalizer helps the front stay in place and when going though holes in the street bike does amazing.
I love the TL1000, I had a CBR 954 and a GSR1000 but the V-Twin power is amazing. I love it
List the modifications on this bike: Yoshi RS3 system, TRE (timing retard eliminator), Power Commander II, remapped, iridium plugs, K&N filter, Dunlop 208s, 16T drive sprocket, heavier clutch springs, Ohlins steering damper, shift light, rear rotary damper mod for increased oil flow (greater control), spring and oil change to front, EBC pads, various chroming and polishing, tinted screen, Suzuki gel seat (oh yes!), tinted brake lens & indicator lenses. I forget the rest...
EFI system is tops. Only has bad manners before 4,000 rpm due to factory timing in 1,2,3 gears to prevent wheelies (and to meet emission regulations). Fitting a TRE is a definate must, smoothes out the power delivery. Does this with a 16T front sprocket and the TLR launches off the line (and will not stall). Go one better and add on the PCII and the power unleashed from Suzukis EFI for the V-twin is awesome.
Back brake is only good for shaving off speed under 80kph (50mph). Front brakes need EBC pads to feel right. Anything less fades after some hard riding, or alot of downhill riding (Adelaide Hills are unforgiving). I rely alot on engine braking, blipping the throttle to match engine speed with drive. Don't rely on the slipper clutch too much or you'll eat your tyres away. I've fitted heavier clutch springs too. Matched with EBC pads up front and clean downshifts, the braking ability is awesome, especially for the TLR's weight.
The TLR got too much bad press from over enthsiastic journos who sampled (and crashed) the TLS by banging the guts out of them. Of course, owners of the TLR would learn their machines and explore the handling progressively, rather than fanging it wide in a corner and crashing like journos. The steering damper on the TLR is a compromise. Too stiff for traffic riding, and less than required for fast track duties. I've fitted an Ohlins (not bracketry required) and haven't looked back. The TLR is definately a slow in/fast out of corners-type of bike. The weight of the TLR doesn't help, but the massive brakes allow you to enter corners fast and hard, and the torque enables you to exit fast and on one wheel. The TLR pulls and pulls right through to redline easily enough where I've fitted a shiftlight for drag day use. The TLR handles passengers well too. My old R1 struggled to stay straight with a passenger. The TLR can still go hard with a passenger and its doesn't upset the handling (so long as the passenger doesn't shit him/herself).
I had an R1 prior to the TLR and I must say that the TLR rules. Who cares if the R1 can pull away from you. I'm never far behind the R1 and I kill then into corners, especially when we have passengers. The ergonomics on the TLR are tops. I have useable mirrors, a good riding position, and everyone looks as I ride by. Its a real chick-puller to boot! With slight mods, the TLR is great in city traffic, and keeps with the best of them in the hills. It is the BEST all-rounder you can ride. And you can't go past that V-twin sound at a very affordable price. Make mine yellow!

TRE, cable clutch conv., racing springs/ discs, 520 kit(chain/sprockets)down one tooth in the front, protec rear sets(GP shifting), braided brake lines, EBC pads, ohlins rear and steering dampner, revalved & sprung front end, block off plates, racing tail, remapped FI, iridium plugs, etc...
the bike rips, get the TRE, remapping, chop a tooth in the front and maybe go with the 530 kit for less drag on the drive. balls out torque. jumpy as hell. Need to LOSE the stock clutch, change it out for a tls cable clutch kit, way more control.
with new lines and pads the brakes rip. stop on a dime (with the back wheel in the air....)
with revalved/resprung front end, ohlins rear and steering dampner the bike ride real tight. also can drop the front end a bit (about half an inch give or take)
i love the bike, just got it with all the mods ever needed except lighter wheels and maybe some engine work later. the bike rips.
S/S brake lines, frame sliders, anodized bolts, trick-tape over headlight, EBC HH
Stumbles under 2500, flat spot at 4700
a little soft for my liking, the rear useless
Requires some effort to change direction, but once leaning it feels great. Doesn't require as much energy to maintain lean angles.
This bike has a totally different feel than all inlines. It takes some getting used to, but once that happens it feels great. I love the unique styling and powerplant. It's good to be different
Viper Blue pearl paint job,Rear undertail with turnsignal intergrader kit, front flush mount turn signals.Polished frame, swingarm, triple tree, rims and other parts.K&N air filter, yoshimura RS-3 slip ons' , one less tooth on the front sprocket, and a dynojet powercommander II.
Bike is smooth all the way up to 180 before the smaller sprocket now is smooth all the way up to 170+ . Before mods Qtr. mile time- 11.30 Speed- 125
Front brakes are work well with this slightly heavier bike.Back brakes are usless unless riding without hands.
This bike is for experienced riders only. This bike only turns if you know what your doing.
Not the fastest bike out there but from all the comments i recieve it seems to look the best.V-twin power is nice and the sound is awesome with the Yoshi pipes.I give my bike a 9.It would be a 10 if it was faster....Thinking of NOS or some kind of turbo kit.
Yoshi alloy pipes, modifyied rear end cut and removed the rear fender.
Power is very useable all the way to the top, would be nice to have a bigger rev limiter though as im sure it would go a little higher without any problems.
good enough for what i needed
well this is where im a bit confused, loved it was a little heavy compared to the likes of R1's etc but i found it was very good if you had the balls to push it to its limit, which im not really sure that i did as i was riding on a hot day brake sliding into corners and power sliding out until i got a very bad case of tankslapper threw me off at about 120kmh i broke my collor bone wreaked both my knees and my right hip but hey it was worth it!!
Love this bike i bought it over a R1 and im about to buy another :) i would prefer a ducati but for the price and comfort and power im getting another TLR
List the modifications on this bike small things here and there, but pull up next to me and you will find out.
any flat spots etc./Like everyone says this bike is a beast and it can hang with almost anything on the road very heavy we all know. The reason that I got this bike is because I was on I95 in philly I was riding a bike I will not name and my friend just got this tl100r everyone was talking about it, I was like yeah what ever man. I got him on the start but about a mile he came back and took me and I couldn't catch him it was sick, the next month or so I went and got myself one no question!
Feel, Strength/ I break for no one!
Different from others but never laid it down yet!
If you come to east beware of the tl beast look for it coming towards you soon.
yosh full system race baffle..tre timing retard eliminator..bmc race filter

love the breaks..they feel strong for this to be such a large bike..stoping on a dime with little effort
watch slow corners and parking lots..but at speed u dont feel the weight... suspension is a little hard
this is my second bike of the summer thanks to some idot that dident look both ways when taking off from a stop sign..but this bike is awsome loads of low end power 1 wheel get aways come easy..the inlines hate me on back roads coming off the corners..this bike is not for beginers..

You definately want a powercomander when running aftermarket exhaust.
with the parts i mentioned having, it is on par with most other high end twins.
A little heavy, but holds a line pretty well.
Fun bike, easy to ride fast, sounds mean!!
00' Power commander, K&N Filter, Yosh Slip-ons, 520 chain conversion, 41 tooth rear, Galpher brake lines F/R, Tinted wind screen, Rear fender mod. Black powder coar on rims.
Needs power commander to help the abrupt throttle response, But when dialed in it works great. Power is wonderfull. Smoothest twin on the market!! With small mods you can get 130 RHP
Brakes are EXCELLENT! A little better feel with SS lines but the stock one are great too!
Well, we all know that the bike is a little heavy. This is true. But for street riding it works just fine. Very little flex in the frame. Front springs are a little strong for street ridding. I find myself riding heavy on the front end for best feel. I've had no problems with the rotary-dapner. The track might find it's faults but not the street. I have never had a hard time keeping up with the latest versions of liter bikes with the TLR. But how fast your bike is, doesn't measure how fast YOU can ride it!
This bike by Sport standards is comfortable with lots of power where you need it on the street. The twin has a great sound and not everyone on your street has one. You can still get parts. With a little money you can have a one-of-a-kind bike with power AND style with a great V-Twin sound.
stock.....Looking for exhaust. Any recommendations E-mail at Mig_8115@yahoo.com
This bike is awesome. I just got it and can get off it. It picks up very fast. Top speed so far 125mph and a smooth ride. Like the sound of the TWINS.
braking is good. I dont race so I guess it's good enough for me.
Be careful aroound corners...
Overall a great bike. Other rider complement all the time. The look of this bike catches evryones attention. I love it.
It's stock.
It doesn't like revs under 2000 ie bucking and jerking. After that though is just gobs of linear torque. Its not a bike for the faint of heart. No flat spots, just more and more power til redline all the while you are just trying to hold on. Its all soul and character with better gas mileage than a 600 4 banger bike.
Fronts are stout. Rear could use improvement. I have never had a problem stopping.
I personally think it handles quite well and very stable even on bumpy roads. The bike makes you feel like you are on the edge, but in reality if you aren't timid you can lean it over further than you can imagine without any mishaps. Be smooth with the throttle and you can out corner much lighter bikes with ease and then out power them out of the corner with a roll on the throttle. They'll envy you.
You need balls the size of grape fruits to ride a tlr. It will bust them for you too. Most people can't ride it a mile before they get tired and want you to give them back their bike. It took me about 2 months of riding nearly every day to get used to it. I was very sore. Respect the bike and it will reward you, don't and it will scare the hell out of you or worse. Contrary to popular belief, it is a great bike and doesn't get the praise it deserves. I raced a 2002 gsxr1000 and I had no problem whipping its ass from a stop light to 100mph when I backed off. I weigh 120 and I estimate he weighed around 220 so that could have played a role in his loss. But it is definitely a bike to be recogned with. I love it.
Micron carbon cans, pipercross full air filter (disposes of all internals), powercommander, timing retarder eliminator, 15 tooth front sprocket, 42 tooth rear, Nitrous Oxide dry system + 40hp. Few cosmetic's mini indicators, undertray, black screen.
Was a little hesitant in stock set up. Air filter eased the breathing and a remap on the powercommander turned it into a different machine. Quite a handful in it's present gearing but the acceleration is startling. My mate has an 04 GSXR1000 and it leaves him standing. Easily lifts the wheel on demand 1st, 2nd and long power wheelies in 3rd (caution on bumps and rises in road)
Front and rear fine but is heavy two up under hard braking. Refresh fluids regularly to maintain feel. Especially the clutch as this gets hot by the cylinder it routes near.
Susceptible to dropping into bends if front tyre worn. I'm using D207's and have set suspension to standard after firming the rear up for a track day. Rear shock gets hot if pushed and loses feel.
I love it to bits - better than a misses - never answers back, apart from a pop on the overrun if heavily accelerated and shut off. Sounds the dogs gonads and goes like stink. It's a twin thing and this has it all.
yoshimura rs3 full system, bmc air filter, gas flowed head, smaller sprocket on rear.ohlins steering damper, braided hoses, eliminator kit at the rear, powder coated rims, power bronze blue screen.pirelli diablo tyres.oh and 131hp on back wheel after i dyno ed her.
need to upgrade to a power commander to smoothen out the throttle. otherwise she runs like hell.
not as great as i thought, need new pads up front(any suggestions). then again i suppose slowing down from 280kmh with a 150m to go on the track isnt bad.
dont let anyone tell you this bike cant corner,i have photographic evidence that she can hang with the best of them.its all about heart either you have it or you dont.suggestion try a few super bike schools to get the confidence up.
definatly a attention grabber, not everones cup of tea,you either hate her or worship her,i choose the latter.
Yosi full, 16 front, k&n filter, pc II, timing retard, steel braided lines, lots more to list
so far so good. i used to ride an f4i before i moded it out to a stunt bike. this was a big jump for me. road around on my bussy's 01 r1. can't lie i liked it but the tl's power and sound...hey what can i say...i might not be able to get ahead on others but on them corners....i got cha. all round good power in my view.
braking is outstanding. i can come to quick stops smoothe and cut them corners with no problems...
oustanding...love gunning it in 1st-03rd...can't help it..love riding wheelies
i love this bike. wouldn't use aluminum sprockets. the first 3000 miles i put on it, them were done. stick to stock or if you plan on swaping'em out stick to steel. tehy last much longer. plus not to mention the rear tire goes out fast. but hey if you ride hard anyway...why bother just spend wome money right...just wish it could be a lil faster...my invest

smooth acceleration, even at high altitudes. Bike doesn't like to go slow, though. Tons of tourque, this bike is wheelie machine
Smooth braking. Not a full on track set up but good enough for a non track rider who doesn't give a shit who can stop quicker
A little heavy in the corners compared to the GSXR but not too bad
Very fun to ride. V twin sounds great and turns a lot of heads. Racey enough and still ergonomical in the city
