Mods

List the modifications on this bike yosh full system, one less tooth in front, dyno jet kit, undertail kit with no flasher in the back and flush monted flasher in front.

Carberation

any flat spots etc. around 4000 rpm but get fix with dynojet kit

Brakes

I had seen better, but I seen a lot worse too, so I could say pretty good.

Handling

drop the fork in the yoke 3mm with a bit more compression damping and give 2 turn preload in the back, I'm 6,1 and 200lbs, after these ajustement its feel like I was riding on rail a the track.

Comments

sometime its good to have less power, so you could really push the bike to the limit, on small track and small country road I will pick a 600cc anytime. Some people need a bigger bike to feel a man, and sometime they don't realise its like watching a dummy drive a formula one, they don't exploit 10% of the capability of the bike. ps. my pride and joy have been stolen two week ago, so next month I'm gonna ride a gsxr600 2002.

Brakes

Feel, Strength brakes fell good enough for a six. i haven't had any problems yet

Handling

best handling bike that i have had to date. all i have riden are 6's

Comments

i noticed that the FI lights comes on from time to time. i saw that somebody noted that as well. as i researched i have found that MANY have seen the same light. turning the bike off then on again seems to clear it. i expect the dealers to come out with a comment eventually but until then they dont know either.

Brakes

Feel, Strength Brakes feel great but are a little slow under extreme conditions!

Handling

It handles Soooo Sweet. It is like having a big bicycle between your legs at 100+!!!! Takes curves like no other ridden!!!!!!!!

Comments

The GSX-R 600 is by far the best bike on the market today! I would only sell this one to buy a 2003 model. Ride Hard and Keep both hands on the bars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Full Acropovic race conical system. Dynojetted & K&N filter. Sprockets One smaller at front Two bigger at back. Braided hoses & EBC HH pads. Raised rear end using 10mm spacer on shock. dropped forks 4mm.

Carberation

Once dynojetted up from 89bhp at rear to 96bhp. Smooth power all the way through, real hard pull from 9000 up!!. Still a little fluffy below 3000rpm.

Brakes

EBC HH pads excellent with braided hoses especially when warm. Brakes are more durable than me old quacks still solid after two winters and 23000 miles

Handling

With the raised back end and lowered front bike turns well fast!! little hairy accelerating over bumps (i have no damper)

Comments

Love this bike. Accelerates stupidly quick due to lower gearing. Wheelies off the throttle in second (half tank of fuel) Gettin a gsxr600k1 soon gotta start playin all over again :) cant wait!!!! Hope the new one doesnt CARB ICE!!!!

Mods

List the modifications on this bike Blue windshield, blue neon front, back, and engine- yoshi tri slip-on(yeah I know did not have the greenbacks @ the time), Merlin alarm, no caution stickers anymore, rear eliminator, flush front signals and integrated rear signals, custom toggle switch panel on side to control neon, alarm, and intercom system.

Carberation

any flat spots etc. 2000-4000 rpm could be a hole lot better(i have not changed the sprocket yet) Rest of the range is very responsive

Brakes

Feel, Strength Better than the CBR's Could be a lot more responsive, but I still can get the back wheel up so I guess no complaints

Handling

Handling is #1 out of all other sportbikes I have ridden. Extremely friendly out of corners and you can even go into the corner soft or hard and still is no problem to counter. Ain't nothing goin' to handle the mountain corners like this baby.

Comments

I ride every day(rain, snow, or shine) and this is probably the best bike for everyday road use. Can only compare it to the new yamaha r6.

Mods

Exhaust: 2 brothers full carbon system Jetting: stage 1 jet kit by Factory racing Gearing: 1 down in front 2 up in rear

Carberation

Very great bike coming from a '92 gsxr 750. very easy to flick around. A lot easier to ride. My only complaint is that the power curve is always being change with pittsburgh's irratic climate. Fuel injection would be tits. But nun the less this bike literally is ready for street or track.

Brakes

Nice not too firm can get a little squishy on the front under stoppies. One of the few bikes that you can use the rear brake on. I picks it up out of a turn

Handling

Four stars. Can wear rear tire almost to the rim. I weigh 147 and I'm about 5'11 and this bike is easy for me to flick around. I don't have to muscle it like the early 90's gixxers or lean as much like the cbrs. The pitch on the front forks is purfect. You can crack it before a speed bumb and jump it and land a wheelie like a pro. Very light... Very right.

Comments

Get ready to buy extra 2 rear tires a season. I wish the previous owner told me it came with 4 free pittsburgh police cars. Damn zone 6!!! You doughnut eating bastards!

Carberation

any flat spots etc. Power is a very smooth but quick delivery, accelerates very fast from about 5-9 grands of rpms, havent really noticed any flat spots cuz it runs like hell and will pull of the ground at about 50 mph with the slip of the clutch.

Brakes

Feel, Strength brakes feel kinda edgey and quick to lock up on you, but the strenght is great.

Handling

Handles like a charm great agillity love it lots.

Mods

List the modifications on this bike Show-N-Go Chrome D&D full system, gives the gixxer the loudest sound above all! Euro GP under tail kit with led lights and short stalk clear blinkers. Zero gravity tinted wind screen, double plated chrome rims, flush mount turn signals. The reversal color scheme of Black n yellow for the 02 makes everything blend in together better.

Carberation

any flat spots etc. The bike doesn't lag as much now, has better throttle response with the D&D exhaust. Makes my bike sound and feel more powerful. Improvement in fuel injection for the 02' is a little bit better than last year.

Brakes

Feel, Strength The stock brakes are not as weak as I thought. Could be better at high speeds, but the bike still stops on the dime. Has a great brake response overall.

Handling

As for handling I love it! The Gixxer is very light and aerodinamic when it comes to cornering. Very easy to push it to the max, it has the right amount of power for me. Its just hard for me to keep the front wheel down, wheelies are a lot of fun on a 600!

Comments

The Gixxer is the best sports-bike you can buy. Its well worth every penny. The power it gives you is awesome. Great power, killer looks, excellent performance. My opinion to everyone out there with a Gixxer, please do not ride with stock exhaust. Upgrade your bike with my personal favorites, Yoshimura or D&D. With one of these you can't go wrong!

Carberation

any flat spots etc. 1st through 4th was sluggish out of the gate. with the computer programing, tek and sproket, it was all illiminated. exhaust and filter let the little beast breath much better. very, very fast for a 600. i recorded 163mph, and my buddy recorded 167mph. *motul oil made shifting smoother.

Brakes

Feel, Strength not real impressed with the brakes (stock) when i changed to motul fluid, ebc racing pads and braided the lines, the feel was a 100 fold. much more sensitive and faid was nonexistant. plan to upgrade to wave rotors or ebc ultra lights

Handling

changing the sproket made it a little jitery in corners, but it is not that bad. one of the best moves i made was the tire change to Metzler sport-tech. made all the differance in the world to me, believe it or not. a hyper-pro adjustible steering damper upgrade has been a life saver. the little 600 comes up in the first three gears at full bore. the new damper stopped those dreadful slaps and wobles.

Comments

the 600m is a definate atention getter and now a sleeper of a 600. all mods were under a grand.

Carberation

any flat spots etc. Peaky power delivery, not much going on below 10500rpm. Needs to be geared down a little, finds it hard to rev out in top gear. Good for what it is but newer 600s eat it down the straight bits. 6/10

Brakes

Feel, Strength Brakes have heaps of feel (probably thanks to great front forks). Don't ever seem to have to really heave on the anchors which must be a good thing. 8/10

Handling

The best handling bike I've ever ridden. Can't put a foot wrong ever. Have often found myself coming into a corner thinking 'ooh this is a bit scary' only to come out the other side grinning and thinking 'I could've done that quicker!' Quite stable but will wriggle through the bars if you're going flat out over a rough road. 10/10

Comments

Feels like a race bike. Very raw and unrefined. You can't help loving this bike it just makes you want to thrash it all the time. Probably not a good 2nd hand option 'cos you just know it's been revved to the moon and back forever.

Yosh Tri-oval bolt-on, black windscreen, euro-tail, and covered in black velvet.

Carberation

Has a noticable flat spot around 400 rpm but is easy to accelerate right through. Throttle response is good almost too good. People say thats the biggest downfall, it is a little too touchy when on one wheel. But when it comes down to it I know no other bike with acceleration as smooth as a GSXR.

Brakes

The breaking is the only real week point on the bike. They have pritty good response and work fine until they get hot and start to feel a little mushy. This is when you experience fade which can actually become quite bad.

Handling

There are nothing but possitive things I can say about the handling. I weigh 135 lbs and can whip this thing around like it is nothing. It is nothing but steady in the turns no matter how fast you are going. The most important thing is the handling is at all times predictable.

Comments

I love my bike with all my heart. I have crashed it once head on into a median going about 60 and still can say only good things about the bike. Especially if you are looking for a commuter and stunt bike in one it doesn't get much better than this. Now don't get me wrong, I do want to trade it in but I am gonna keep it in the family. Now the only decision is 750 or 1000?

Carberation

peaky power delivery, hopefully the jet kit will take care of some of it. But, it deffinately pulls hard above 8500 for a 600. No problem riding wheelies through second.

Brakes

moderate for factory breaks. Could use braided lines and good pads.

Handling

WOW! It takes any turns thrown at it with ease. NOTE: get rid of the donlop 207 it comes with. Highly recomend bridgestone battlaxe bt-010, big difference. Even without impecable handling. Setting your sag makes a huge difference too. It is free and is definately worth the time.

Comments

the only flaw is the power delivery could be smoother at times. Great bike, highly recomend for anyone. Excelent first street bike. i'm ready for the 1000.

in response to the F.I. light coming on, mine does it too. I took it to the shop after it happened the first time while it was in warranty, but they blew me off because it wasnt on at the time. I dont know bikes but I worked on cars for 7 years and it sure seems like an o2 sensor the way it comes on after cruising for a long time at steady speed.

I have ridden several 600's including cbr f2 and f3's fzr's, and other gsxr's, and this 600 is by far the most supperior 600 I have ever seen.

Comments

I have owned a gixr 750, a honda cbr f3, and a yamaha r-6, so I have no loyalty to one brand over another, but I will say after purchaseing this bike I don't think I will get rid of it for a long time. I love it. Also after owning a 750 and ridden some other 750's I don't think I will ever need to go back to those bigger cc's. I only rate it a 9.5 because I believe there is always room for improvement even when your the best.

List the modifications on this bike K&N air cleaner, Golden specrto 4 oil, Yosh exhaust, Power commander, and remapped

Carberation

any flat spots etc. Before it was remapped it had a dead spot at 4400-4600rpm and at 11000-11200rpm. By adding a power commander and finding a dyno and remapping it there is no dead spots. But if you are running all stock parts on a 02 you should only have a dead spot at 4500-4800rpm and a K&N air cleaner will fix that. Oh yeah run 93 or higher oct. fuel.

Brakes

Feel, Strength. Well they are ok if they are clean and warm. When wet or cold they tend to not work as quick as i would like them to.

Handling

Boy from right out of the crate the handling on this bike is great. Although if you like to go fast and good handling tune the bike to have more compression and more spring you will have tons more response.

Comments

For a 600cc this bike is fast. I got it in Feb 2004 and it was still in a crate, I set it up, broke it in. After breakin added some parts and this thing is great. But the best thing that this bike got was the golden spectra 4 oil. That will improve your engine preformance and you shifting more than I can explain. And if you can find someone with a dyno who can remapp the computer you can gain about 11 more horse with using all factory parts, and do it a lot cheeper than buying a bunch of parts.

The FI error can be solved by replacing a control unit. It's an error that's common with the 2001 model and in Holland it's replaced for free by the dutch importer (if it's impoprted by them). Otherwise it costs you around 200 euro.

Hindle Aluminum exhaust can. Flush mount front signals, frame sliders, 750 engine swap, manual CCT, re-jetted carbs, k&n filter.

Carberation

The upgraded powerplant and re-jetted carbs deliver smooth power from idle to redline. This bike screams! Power wheelies in second, clutch wheelies up to fourth.

Brakes

Braided lines and quality pads make the bike stop on a dime, with a positive, liniar feel throughout braking.

Handling

Handles Razor fine. Light wieght makes the bike super flickable, adjustable suspension allows for individual rider preferences. Pirelli Diablo rubber warms quickly and provides superb grip wet or dry.

Comments

This is an all around great bike. An excellent mix of Supersport handling and superbike brawn. The 750 Swap makes an already great Supersport bike that much better. A great track ride. Only negatives are the absence of fuel injection and Cam Chain tensioner problems (easily fixed with manual CCT from APE.)

Hotbodies racing undertail to get rid of the "mudflap" license plate holder. with the passenger pegs off and the undertail, the bike looks like it just came from a gp race.

Carberation

I think 80 mph in first gear is a good start. Thats pretty good for a 600. The only flatspot you will ever feel is from 4500 rpm to 5500 rpm. After that, the dual injector throttle bodies kick in at 6000 rpm. once those hit. Get ready to crap yourself for the amount of fun you're about to have.

Brakes

Of course being on a bike you have close calls with morons and want good brakes....These stock breaks are the best feeling over the new R6 and zx-636 that i have felt this year. people have pulled out in front of me while i am doing 80, and i have gone down to 30 in just over 2 seconds. and i NEVER use more than one finger. you cant lock up the front wheel with just one finger, but you have an unbelievable amount of stopping power with just one finger. its the perfect mix.

Handling

i have many country roads and s-curves where i live, and let me tell you. I have never felt so safe on a bike when doing such stupid things. the bike of course can go so far sideways around a turn that you tear up the side of your shoe, but whats great is the reliability in the bike. i have LEARNED how to slide both my front and rear wheel into a sharp turn. its not just that i am just an idiot but its also that you can trust that the bike will not slide out from under you, giving you as much leaning as you can take, not the bike.

Comments

HOPEFULLY YOU READ THIS PART. I AM TALKING ABOUT THE 2006 SUZUKI GSX-R600, NOT THE 2005.i am 6' 4" tall and thats what kind of frame this bike is built for, a tall person. other than that, once the stock license plate fender is gone, and the passenger pegs are off, you dont need anything else. this bike is very predictable and more fun than any 1000 i have ridden, because you dont have to be cautious with it. you ride it as if it was a mini bike. you can hammer on it all day and you know exactly how much more it and yourself can take. this is the best bike i have ever ridden, bar none.

Yoshi S3 end can and tinted screen. They were already on the bike when I bought it second hand. Other than that some lovely cracks and scratches down the right side of the fairing. They were a DIY job I'm not too proud of. (See below). Am thinking of lifting the bars a couple inches for comfort but it's not really in the spirit of the whole "Supersports" thing.

Carberation

Very smooth when you're on it. A couple of flat spots through the midrange but it takes off above 10,000. Seems a little bit jerky on light throttle openings when pottering through town but see above on how to smooth it out. I was surprised how economical the bike is when you're touring. It'll do 200 miles ot a tank with my better half on the back. As long as you take it easy with throttle ;)

Brakes

Smooth again but they feel a little bit weak. Have lifted the back wheel up during an emergency stop with my girlfriend pillioning though, so it might just be the feel through the lever. (She wasn't very happy with me after that...)

Handling

Ace. Light, flickable, forgiving (usually). Handles bumpy back roads easy but loves the smooth stuff. Makes me look like a much better rider than I am. Have tried fiddling with the suspension adjusters but don't really notice too much difference. I've heard Suzuki didn't think it needed to be adjusted so the adjusters don't do anything. They're probably right. It's about perfect. Only moment I had was when I forgot to switch my brain on before the bike and lost the back end turning out of a car park onto the road. Yes the road was a bit damp and yes I shouldn't have given it full throttle whilst leant right over. By the time I realised what was going on I had to choose between highside or lowside. Lowside it was then. Ended up sliding down the road on my arse right behind the bike. Worst bit was the speed all this happened at. 30-40mph... I'd like to think it was character building.

Comments

Can't really fault the bike one-up. It really is much better than I am. The only issues I have are getting sore wrists when riding long distances and the lack of torque when my lady's on the back. I am thinking of upsizing to something more suitable for two-up touring but love the gixxer way too much to sell it.
