Softened suspension. Centennial edition in British Racing Green.
Excellent power delivery everywhere on the tach. Power is good but not as impressive as the japanese liter-bikes. Comes in smooth.
Best braking I tried yet. Smooth, progressive, powerful.
Excellent forgiving handling but suspension is way too stiff, which caused me to be airborne on some occasions, on twisty back roads. I had it softened a little, eventhough I'm a rather big guy (6'2'', 200 pounds).
One of the best looking fairings and overall package on the market. You have to pay for the exclusivity, though. Overall performance is great and I found the bike to be quite comfortable for a person of my proportions, with good wind protection and comfy seats for a sports bike.
D&D high mount exhaust w/race can, K&N air & oil filters, Sprocket specialists 17F and sunstar 43R, RK-X-ring chain, Michelin Pilot sports w/190 rear, and PCIII which i still need a map for? anybody that can help please e-mail me at Betterman077@aol.com
with the smaller sprocket up front the bike has a ton more torque and barely has two wheels on the ground, the power varied between the gear and rpm range but everything should change after it's tuned.
Don't know much but they work ,I don't use them much
eh , hard to dive into corners, the bike kinda fights back sometimes on the track and the suspension even set for stiff still let me scrape my headers in turns
still love my bike but if i could have a wish it would be to, drop bout 60 pounds of the bike and more progressive suspension parts,
Two Brothers Racing Pipe
Rough starts due to to much power drain in the headlight. But overall one of the best bikes i have ridden (alot)power distribution like and R1 With the handling of a 600.
Rear brakes need more power! front has the best i ever used (maybe too good !HAHAH)
I am 5' 7 , 195 pounds and i ride this bike like i own the street no problems with city turns, highways or NYC Traffic.
Great All around bike !Can easily Rival R1'S AND GSXR1000's Best Bike i have ever ridin ! (forgive me for mispells and grammatical error's)
Gilles riser bars, Corbin seat, Triumph carbon can, small sports rack, Bagster tank bag, double-bubble screen and crash mushrooms, Scottoiler.
PLENTY of power for me, no flat spots and awesome triple howl. Maybe there are bikes that can go faster, but I can't.
Front brake superb, rear brake, hugely disappointing, I need to really stand on the pedal to see any response. Different pads planned.
Wonderful, firm and solid but flickable enough and confidence inspiring.
Overall the best bike I've had and I'd certainly consider another. Would benefit from a better (reduced turn) throttle and revamped rear brake; I understand this has been improved with the latest model.
Nothing, except Carbon Fiber Exhaust (Triumph Original Equipment) Sounds very nice/deep, especially at 6,000 and up rpms.
Very powerful, has enough power to spin a wheel in a second gear while shifting, on a dry road. But the throuttle response is not that sensitive as Japanese bikes have, also little heavy 188 kg, the japanese bikes are around 170-175, so those two things effect alot when you try to do a wheelie, but when I keep the gas tank almost empty, then I can do wheelie with no problem.
Brakes are very powerful, as far as you have good traction with road. The rear will skid very easy. Most of the braking is done by front brakes.
Handling is ok, not sure how it would with Dunlop tires or other better brands than BridgeStone. If I compare handling to 2003 Yamaha R6 it's not that good, but I think it's because of tires, and also it is little high, and heavy.
I owned it for a season, put in it around 2k miles, no mechanical problems, except speedometer sometimes stay in "0", but that's about it. The bike is little high comparing with others, so it is impossible to touch with you need the ground while turning. The throttle response no very sensitive as in Japanese bikes, maybe because it has 3-cyclinder engine. The bike is little heavy for tricks. When you ride it for about 20 min, you'll feel like you are sitting on 4 by 4. The limiter turns on at 12,000 rmps, the first gear will go up to 77 mph, second 100 mph. The top speed I tried 150 mph, and it's still going, but was afraid of cops. When idling, the engine is little load/noisy. No as much with protection as R6 has. Hard to find parts, not too many of those around here in Washington, USA. That's about it.
Stock is a "BEAST" I have tried 2 teeth down in the front which makes a little more torque then I needed you will be on the tail light before you know it!!
Torque "MONSTER" it will come up easy in 1st and 2nd.
Smoothest braking I have ever seen on a bike!
Handles like a "DREAM" when it comes to the curves it has the power of the R1's , Gixxer 1000 and equivilents and handles better then a 600 you can drag a knee and the bike still wants to lean!
I have ridden a little bit of everything from 600cc to the new ZX-14 and everything in between. The 955i can rival the busa on acceleration. Pull Wheelies like the R1. Handles like a 600 and a great looking body style. The single swing arm is a great addition to its look. Only down side is the seats after about 2 hrs or so make you prefer to ride standing up :( and it sits a little high for most riders both of these issues can be fixed easily though!
List any modifications on this bike
even though this bike is an old design it appeals to people who want a departure from all the japanese norm,o.k.its heavier,(just)it isnt as quick,(but its not far off the pace).it doesnt frighten the hell out of you because the power is so smooth throughout the whole rev range, but you build speed almost as fast as the jap bikes,it is a road bike for sure,it isnt a track bike and that is the way triumph designed it,its pleasing to ride, comfortable, the sound track is superb and it still looks up to date,it also stops and handles as good as any other bike around, all round it gives a feeling of confidence.my only gripes ?, the motor is noisy at idle,(theyre all the same)and the throttle has way too much travel,I havn't used full throttle since ive had it simply because you need two grabs at it.but all in all i give the 955 9 out of 10.sorry about writing all this in one window, but thats what happens when you start writing before you scan the whole page.
Feel, Strength
1998 Triumph T595 Daytona (955i) with K & N air filter, Triumph low race can, and all updated EFI maps.
After getting the latest EFI maps the annoying hesitations and abrupt throttle response at low speeds is now gone. Exiting corners, doing wheelies, etc. is so much easier now.
Even though the brakes say "Triumph" they are in fact made by Nissin and stop the bike VERY well. The braided (stock) brake lines can be credited with the great stopping power and feel. The bike comes stock with 320mm rotors.
What can I say? The bikes feels and handles like a 600cc sportbike! It doesn't matter what speed you're doing, turning is easy and precise. The Showa suspension is fully adjustable front and rear.
I have ridden many bikes, everything from 600cc sportbikes (Honda CBR's, Suzuki GSXR's and Katanas, etc.), 750cc (ZX-7 and GSXR's), to liter bikes (GSXR's, Ducati 996, CBR 900RR, etc.) and the Daytona flat out kicks ass! The triple is a wonderful engine that gives the best of both the twin and four cylinder worlds. The exhaust note sounds absolutely wicked and the bike is beautiful to look at. The Triumph Daytona offers exotic performance and looks with the reliabilty and maintenance intervals of a Japanese sportbike. Simply AWESOME!!!
