STOCK - No modifications as of yet. Waiting until Spring to but a Vance and Hines exhaust on and of course, lighten up the body with carbon fiber accessories.
Smooth, fluid throttle response. Thank God someone finally decided to let the riders be heard... FUEL INJECTION is the shizzle! Might even be a little too much for the overly anxious, and underskilled, riders who don't appreciate the machine but just want to go really, REALLY fast.
Brakes are tight, never spongey. Who uses them anyways right? They work so I can't complain.
Handles like it reads your mind and knows where to go already... just takes you there. Of course you gotta do some of the work.
In all, I've been very pleased with this years release and technical improvements on the new R6. Slight changes in overall weight and horsepower coupled with the same gearing as previous years leads to just about the same top end speed. Body feels more rigid than in past models.. bonus for intense turning. To sum it all up.. ME LIKEY!
hindel slip on exhaust droped one tooth on front sprocket
nice power just like a bigger bike role on the throttle in 1st gear and you cant keep the front wheel on the ground shift into 2nd just right and unlike most 600 it will bring the front wheel up with just a roll of the throttle. very responsive.
brakes are very firm and responsive i'm very hard on the front brakes when taking some curves no complaints
the bike is very rigid you feel very stable one with the bike when you ride it took some tighting of the rear shock from the stock setting to get it to hook just right but now it's snappy and responsive
my last bike was a f4i and this is a whole new level of riding hands down a race bred design the only problem is i have to wait to get most after market parts
none as of yet but soon there will be a full exhaust system, fender eliminator, and one tooth down in the front
the bike feels great just role it on and the wheel is up
the brakes are good compared to most bike but braided lines are on the way
like the other reviewer said its like it reads your mind handles like no other bike I've ridden
not too many aftermarket parts yet but many are on the way
None
Under 4K RPM, it can use a bit more torque. But, from there on up, it's awwesome! Anything above 8K RPM is just adrenaline rush.
The brakes can feel a bit touchy at first, but once your use it, it's great! Excellent brakes!
This bike handles great! Because of it's weight and short wheelbase it turns into corners with ease.
Awesome bike overall for 2003. If I could buy a new bike again I would still pick this one. I don't regret buying this one.
gytr slip-on set the suspension up right so no falling on its face when you brake or wheelie look for suspension settings online if you need but i will post them later dont have them on me right now
fuel injection is the stuff carbs dont do enough
it dives to far unless you change you settings after you change them its stoppies with ease time
once again once settup right it rocks
r6 awesome bike kawasaki's suck and ill never buy another one because kawasaki doesn't stand behind there craftmanship
Stock. oh...and by the way...from reading these posts, it looks like this new R6 stupifies people, because no one that rides it can spell good enough to talk about it.
It's a dog until around 10k, then it starts to come alive.
Perfect
Perfect
My boyfriend has a 2001 GSX-R1000; he says the brakes, and the handling on this R6 are better than his bike.

Sweet
This is an awesome bike, plenty of high reving power. Plus it looks great.
Stock w/mods on the way...and Oh Charlene why don't you let people who know bikes make comments.
Name a 600 bike that pulls 'em up easier.
Excellent. They have gotten me out of a couple tight spots in traffic, just like the throttle.
Awesome. Feels like the bike is part of you.
Top of the line performance combined with superb styling make this bike the best in it's class. Supported by the "Bike of the Year" article in the December 2003 issue of Sport Rider.
Hindle Slip on, Fender eliminator, Light covers
A new bike is hard to break in but this has power from the start I can't wait to get a few more 1000 miles
Comfortable fit and the right amount of pressure but I dont use them that much
It takes corners smooth and feels very sharp and natural
The best bike of 2003 for 600s it is going to take a long time to top this one. Fuel injection thank god someone at yamaha finally got it right.

eliminator but looking to put in a yoshi
love it
feels good
supurb
i love this bike even though i never rode anotherbike before. But friends rode it and said it has a lot of torque but they don't want to admite that my bike is better than theirs
micron high mount exhaust slipon
nope
stong
great
great bike
Sprint steering Damper, Slipper Clutch, Micron Slip-on, suspension lowered/sorted, seat cut (I'm only 5' tall), Carbon bits, double bubble screen
Bit weak below 8000, but comes alive, plenty of 2nd gear wheelies
Perfect
Had to be set-up for my height, but perfect now.
Best lap times of the Nurburgring = 10 minutes, my personal best, commutes, tours, well finished
D and D exhaust
could use a little more power under 9000rpms
the brakes were ok not overly strong but easy to get use to
this bike handles great in and out of corners no need to down shift before going into corners with my D and D exhaust on it would brake the rear tire lose out of most corners
this was a great bike for the summer it was easy to do 2nd gear wheelies and evan 3rd gear wheelies were not all that hard without the clutch.
A HotBodies Undertail is in the mail. Looking to get a Yoshimura RS3 Race Full Exhaust, PCIII, and anything that will raise the bar even higher.
After reviewing many articles on the web, I would have to agree there seems to be a flat spot between 7K and 8K. I haven't been able to get above 9K due to I'm still trying to brake the bike in. Kinda slow over here in Okinawa due to the weather.
These brakes are very noticable. I can stop very quickly and controlled from up to 130Kph. Better than my aged TL1000S.
Oh my god... I didn't know that bikes actually handled this good. My TL feels like a hearse compared to the R6. So damn nimble. I can't wait till I take it up norht to the twisties.
This is my 1st new bike. My 4th overall. It is by far the best. I kinda miss all the torque from a Vtwin but I'll get over it. The looks are superb. Yamaha did an outstanding job on this bike. Thank god there is no undertail exhaust.
Two Bro's Slip on exhaust. Pro Grip grips. Frame Sliders. And a bunch of carbon fiber pretties as well as LED's.
Touchy Throttle badass in the 12k-14k rpm range
Excellent
Excellent
I love my bike... why else pay for one. Beats the shit outta my GF's zx6r.
Hindle highmount slip-on. Others not performance related.
Below 3000rpm there is absolutely no power in 1st gear making launches from a stop a little slow initially. This generally is not an issue though... right after 3000rpm the bike start pulling nicely up to 10k where you better let off the throttle if you don't want to loop it.
Brakes have excellent stopping power. Too much of it will lift the rear of the bike so maybe it has a little too much stopping power.
Outstanding with stock settings on the street and even at the track.
This bike is really well built. I do some serious stunting on a daily basis and would have expected something to give or show weakness after 7000 miles. This bike is extremely stuntable from stock. It will power wheelie to as high as you want to go from 4500rpm. From a standing start or very slow speed, if you pin the throttle and just maintain a steady acceleration, this bike will lift off as it passes through 10,000rpm and loop unless you let off a bit. YOu can actually ride it out at or near the balance point for a very respectable distance before the limiter kicks in dropping the front back down. All this from steady acceleration in 1st... no jerking the throttle or clutching.. just amazing! 2nd gear clutch wheelies are also smooth and easy anywhere below 60mph. Like I said, I ride this bike to its limits and it's still as strong as it was when I got it with nothing needing attention. Respect to Yamaha!
Well i have a yoshimura carbon fiber tri-oval can, fender eleminator kit, flush mount turn signals, and my favorite second-look tail light intergrator kit ( many programable patterns for LED RUN,STOP,SIGNALS )
Power is great, first gear is smooth take off, and keeps on going.
I use the front brake alot, great for stoppies, and rolling burn outs.
The handling is like by far very responive, great for corning, and everything else.
Overall this bike is very awesome, i wouldn't trade it for anything. I seriously will probably keep it forever, even when i buy another bike. i recomend for someone that would want a 600
Micron High Mount, PCIII usb
Flat in mid range... but no worries with the right map and tuning the power commander can take care of that.
Stops on a dime
Handles like a champ, way better then the 636, and cbr
This is an awsome machine. I have been riding for about 11 years and i have no complaints with this 600. Stock it is hard to compete with overall. With the right mods... UNTOUCHABLE
EBC HH "KIT Front brake pads gytr slip on gytr high flow air filter galfer braided brake lines DUNLOP GP 208"A" TIRES REMAPPET INJECTOR SETTINGS
since remapping lost some midrange but well traded for crisper throttle response and TONS of horsepower 11,000 RPM on.
from the start it needed hh kit pads . left well enough alone thereafter
my 2001 r6 i was in love with from day 1 . what in the world did they do to the 04 ? i mused for first 2,000 Mi. no confidence approaching and during severe lean angles! the cure is simly this, lose those (specialy designed) shit D208 dunlops replace them with dunlop GP 208 "a" tires.
this bike is stellar with 208 Gp tires fitted to it it is now the bike i expected it to bewhen i first bought it!
Yoshimura RS3 Race Carbon Slip on, PCIII USB, Scotts Steering Stabelizer, any tires except Dunlop crap.
Awesome power and very smooth, even smoother with PCIII
Couldn't be better. Only problem is with stock Dunlop tires. Front cups so easily the front shakes under heavy braking.
Exceptional, this is my second R6. These bikes are the best handling bike I've riden. Light, responsive, and easy to throw from side to side.
HUMMMM!!!!!!
Good
Good
WHERE IS THE POWER!!!!! I think I could out run this bike in a 50 yard span in my 88 4cyl toyota pickup! And if I removed all the bondo on the truck bed mabye 100 yards!!!!!!
Micron Full Exhaust PC-3 Voortex Rear Sets
Lacks a little bite in the 4 to 6 thousand rpm range. When you hit 8,000 it takes off like a rocket!
Solid brakes, no complaints
Perfect, it just begs you to push the envelope in turns
Bike is awsome. Very smooth up to 130 mph, above that some "vibration" but nothing to worry about.
Front and rear braided galfer brake lines. Short v-stacks. Double bubble screen tinted. BMC race air filter. solo tail. new led tail(brake light, turn and runnig lights all in one)and galfer brake pads
only at low rpms but power really kicks in around 6000rpm
brakes feel a whole lot better with the braided lines
handling is the best. been on f4i and the r6 out performs it by far
-full ti micron system with power commander -increased throttle body spacing
the bike had amazing power, rapid acceleration in 6th gear. a truly amazing machine.
good feel and positive response, two finger braking.
the faster you go the better it feels.
all around good buy.
Devil Carbon Fiber slip-on, K&N air filter,Chrome rims,Gregg's custom flush mount blinkers, custom undertail, new grips, second look seat covers
Great...more power than my first bike(Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R)
Great....got me out of a couple of accidents from people just cutting out in front of me or just being stupid!!!
Perfect...like it was driving itself!
Really a great bike...I've ridden, Ninja's, GSX-R's, and CBR's and nothing compares to the Yamaha!!!
none
not bad but a flat spot when changing quickly up through the gears especialy 1st to 2nd.
Excellent
dont like the 60 series front profile, not much frontend grip or feel.70 series profile and decent rubber would fix this.
Definetly needs a slipper clutch to stop wheelhopping when changing down through gears quickly. Does anyone else have this problem.
Devil Slip-on,Fender eliminator,velocity stacks,power commander..other misc items
Instant roll on hit..slightly weak in the lower RPM range..at 8 grand you feel it...wheel pulls a 12 peak HP at 13,2..aweomse..when you hit it, you know...10.9 in the 1/4
Awesome...when you want to stop..you stop...182-0 faster than you can blink and eye...
excellent...can't beat the feel..you point she moves...
Excellent bike..very nimble..nice light small compact feel...power delivery is top notch..design is flawless...fuel injection desimates all..
Yosh pipe would have liked a shorty but couldn't order, Undertail, Carbon fiber parts, Hotbodies dark windsceen, soon one down in front 10 up in back, 12o'clock bar, Crash cage, Front wave rotors, Handbrake, Mish. pilot powers, Powercommander pc III, fornt and rear stainless steel brake lines.
It's a little slow off the start, but when it hits about 6k it just flys and front tire comes right up to balance point, you got to be careful, as soon as it comes down in first and you hit 2nd gear it comes right up again, it feels like a liter bike, and to top it off same thing in 3rd, a little slower but it still comes up with the stock sprockets. I love this bike. a great price for it. you can get the r6 for 1k more but this is all anyone needs for everyday ridding and for the stunters like me too.
front brakes are a little soft but you can still pull off those stoppie with no prob. rear are just like any other bike.
Its a little shakie in the wind, i found out lastnight. other than that i can take 40mph turns at 80+ mph i took one at 110 and didnt even know i was going that fast intil i looked down after the turn.
Im not really the racing type person i love to stunt and this bike makes a great stunter. Now for the everyday ridder its alittle more expensive to the kawasaki zzr6 but i think it looks better and this bike is AMAZING. I give it an A+
