School Time - Steven Stinchcomb
I've been riding a few years now and have learned a lot of things about motorcycling from many different people. One thing sticks out as the most important lesson.
If you're thinking about getting that new killer pipe or "racing" tires because that bike just won't go fast enough. It's probably not the bike that needs work.
Box stock 600cc sport bikes today are WAY more accomplished at going through the twisties than 90% of the people astride them. Take the money you would have spent in one performance upgrade and go to a riding school. You will thank me over and over if you do. At a track school you will quickly learn about not riding beyond your limits on the street and become a far better rider. I guarantee a whole new world of riding will open up to you from one simple course.
Keith Code has been showing people how to ride better for longer than most of us have been able to say the word motorcycle. (sorry Keith) His school (California Superbike School) as well as his book
(Twist of the Wrist II) will help you to be more confident than you ever felt possible on two wheels. To say this experience changed my motorcycling life is a great understatement. If his school doesn't come to a track near you, look at the links below for more options. Or at least get the book and become a better more confident rider.
Here are a few links to get you started.
