Pirelli Tire Reviews

  • Tire: Pirelli, Dragon MTR - 01 & 02
  • Name: Rene
  • Bike: Honda CBR 600 f3
  • Rating: 8.5

Surface

Type of surface tested on. Temp. Weather Conditions Slush! Yes Slush. +29 c to -2 c hardtop, concrete, ashfalt

Grip

Sucks in the slush, there I said it. Good on cold days, better on warm and AWESOME on Hot. Gravel is terrible or worse. Just don't go there. Pegged out repeatedly. Bike and driver are the limits here... not the tires!

Stability

Stability etc.Front tire is excellent in braking, excellent! Added tire pressure makes these guys go from loose to arrow straight. Aimable like a dart.

Handling

Quick or slow to lean in or react to changes. You'll need half an hour of "play" time to find your ideal tire pressure for your style, once there you'll never need to change. Under-inflate is mushy and over-inflate is slow.

Comments

Awesome street use tire for in town. Ok, on longer trips but aren't a sport touring so they will wear quicker.

Surface

Tire was tested in good weather conditions on asphalt road. 80 degrees outside, good road conditions.

Grip

This tire is the second best tire I have ever used. The best was a Pirelli Dragon Race Spec. It grips great cold and hot, off the line and in the corners.

Stability

The ride is smooth all the way through the curves and at high speed.

Handling

Over all handling is excelent. It dips into the corners smooth and recovers superbly.

Comments

Much better than the Dunlop 207 I tried and the Avon Azaro.

Surface

Mild winter and warm spring. Twisties and track day. Limited commuting.

Grip

Grip is good from go, needs very little warm up, even in winter.

Stability

Tracks very weel also at speed. Does not tram track. Stable.

Handling

Quick into corners. Stable once a line has been chosen. Reacts quickly to input.

Comments

Very happy. Works well at track days as well. Rear did go a bit mushy towards end, but I may have run too low a pressure.

Surface

Type of surface tested on. 1900 miles regular road conditions Temp. 29-70F Weather Conditions Dry Road, once in rain storm.

Grip

Tires handled extremely well. Far better confidence than stock Michelin Pilot sport.

Stability

Taller rear profile, bike leans in very quickly. More cold grip than stock tires hot!!

Handling

Track straight and true. Fast in the corners, faster in the straights.

Comments

Tire wear is less than Michelin Pilot sports, but expected since softer compound. About 2500 on rear compared to 3500.
